gross topics in public

In answering another thread I thought of this:

How many times have you been out to lunch, dinner, movies, etc. and had the topic get around to our work? Have you ever cleared out a room, made people move a little farther away from you, or just given you a look like "what kind of assylum did you just escape from?"

Happens every time I go out with colleagues. It is actually not such a bad thing. We always can get a table!!!!

Probably the one that was the worst, nearly made a lady at the next table literally blow chunks, was when we were talking about a patient who had died and he was an eye donor. We were extolling the vitures of how great it was to be a donor. What a great person, blah, blah, blah. Then I described how when the funeral home guy who was trained to remove the eyeballs came in and did it, one eye went sailing across the room. (Fortunately they were still able to use it.) I think what really disgusted her was that I suggested to the guy that he bring in a catchers mitt the next time he came in for a procurement.

Anybody else tell any gross stories out in public? Please share!!!!!

Actually, I try to keep the shop talk to a minimum, although I know it's hard for it not to drift back.

I don't remember any particularly gross topic upsetting the bystanders. They used to be more confused when we (the night staff) ordered from the dinner menu at 10 a.m. Well, hey, it's dinner time!

Poop---we always get to them talking about code browns or gaping wounds.
