1. i was reading this article and it mentioned a pt haveing "exploration right groin infection"
    What is exploration??
    Also, this pt had a opsite dressing, can somone clue me in? yes i'm new to this stuff (1st year) =)

    Hi there! I can answer your question about op-site dressing, simply because last week in clinicals I encountered one.

    Op-Site is nothing more than a clear bandage (or piece of tape) so that you can see the wound beneath it for easy assessment.

    As far as exploration, I will take a guess that they were doing exploratory surgery for a right groin infection??

    An OPSITE dressing is a clear dressing where you can observe the area without removing the dressing. This exploration could be infection may have travelled to other unknown regions

    Sounds like they did an I&D (incision and drainage) than looked around alittle (exploration) to see if the infection tunneled anywhere.

    An Opsite is like a Tegaderm, if you're familiar with those.
