Corrections vs private duty nursing?

Nurses General Nursing

Hi all! I am new to this site but not new to nursing. I've been an LVN in California for almost 3 years and have experience in Skilled Nursing and in Assisted Living. Neither were much of my liking, but I stuck around.

Now I am ready for something different, and slightly less hectic than SNF. I know the grass isn't always greener, just different grass, and that everything comes with pros and cons. But I'm trying to see the light and search for something that will suit me better. Here in my county, there aren't too many opportunities for LVNs. I like the idea of having 1:1 in private duty, and I feel I have the character for working in jails.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have worked in private duty or jails/prisons. What is the usual work day like? Would you choose one over the other? Did you look forward to going to work? Because I dread the thought of going to my job in SNF :bluecry1:
