Contact after interview

Nurses General Nursing

I had an interview last Thursday for an ortho floor. I thought it went very well. I emailed thank you letters to both the nurse recruiter and the nurse manager I met with because my friend got a job at this hospital and found out 2 days after the interview so I figured email was the fastest way. I hadn't heard anything by Monday so I called the nurse recruiter to ask what was going on. She wasn't in the office that day so I called back on Tuesday. She said she hadnt heard from the nurse manager, but will try to call her that day. I called back today and she said they were playing phone tag. The recruiter also asked me today if I had another job offer and that was why i was anxious to hear. I said no, because I dont. (i had another interview but didn't get that job) Now my question is, can I email the nurse recruiter to say that i am wondering about the position because I really want it and feel that it is a good opportunity for me to start my career? or will that be too much and pushy?

Too soon. You just spoke with her today. Tommorrow is soon enough or the next.

okay. I will call tomorrow then. thanks! :)

I called the nm once a week until I was hired, more than that is pushy

My contact has been with the recruiter, not the manager. Do you suggest I contact her as well? Or just leave it at the recruiter.

You're risking turning them off if you're too pushy, which it sounds like you might be bordering on. The recruiter will pass along your avid interest. I'd give it a rest for at least a week at this point, or you're going to become that annoying person who they'll start to wonder if they really want to work with.

I didn't think about it that way. Thank you for your input. It's just a hard thing to judge. I'm anxious to get a job and finally start working, but I don't want to seem too pushy. But I will wait until next week to call back, but hopefully I'll hear from them before that.

It took 10-12 days for me to hear I had a job at the hospital. That is one reason why I always ask if I will hear either way. That way I know that if time goes by and I don't hear no, it it still being decided. So far I have yet to meet any health care hiring system that moves quickly. So give a few days. ;) Hope you get the job!

I didn't go through a recruiter so that's why my contact was with nm. If you have been working with the recruiter up until now I would stay with that.
