Hi! I'm a new grad nurse going for an interview tomorrow for a RN position at a nursing home. The interview includes a medication exam. I was hoping to learn some of the most commonly prescribed medications in a nursing home setting so I know which meds to study! Thanks for any help you can give!

When I worked as a Med Aid in LTC we had a lot on BP meds, pain killers, blood thinners, antidepressants, some on antiseizure meds, lots of antacid and GERD meds.PRN Psych meds, antianxiety meds, resperatory inhalers, insulins.

The ones that really come to mind are: metoprolol, digoxin, Tylenol ( all doses),Morphine, Vicodin, coumadin, Cymbalta, Seroquel, Xanex, Haldol, Zantac,Pepcid,Albuterol, insulins,Arasept etc.

But this is just a short list of the ones that I really remember.

Thanks so much! i'll be sure to study up on those meds.
