Hi everyone! I am a 2nd year nursing student. I'm trying to do a report relating to a health care topic of my choice. I am interested in learning more detail from RN's and the medical community in general your experiences in dealing with Asthma in a patient that smokes while having this condition. What exact patient teachings do you give each patient? How does their outcomes generally fair out after the teaching? What nursing interventions do you do while the patient is in a hospital setting with this specific set of circumstances? I am very interested hearing in everyone's responses. Thank you taking the time to post here i appreciate it. Looking forward to having a good conversation with you all.

Welcome to AN, I see you joined today. While we are happy to guide you with homework assignments, we like to see what your research has shown. How does smoking affect lung function? What medications are used to treat asthma? How is the lining of the bronchioles changed with asthma & with smoking? Is the effect of smoking permanent? How about second hand smoke & asthma? How is asthma diagnosed? What answers do you have to the questions you posted? Go ahead & post what you have so far for your assignment so we can see what you have so far.
