I read somewhere in an article that said more hospital are demanding nurse to have Bsn by 2020, I was wondering if you have Adn, can you still get hired in the hospital? Is there hope? I'm stressing out cause when I searched for a nurse job most hospitals are preferring nurse with Bsn education. Thank you

depends on the hospitals. some will hire you with an ADN but will require you get a BSN w/in 3 or so years of hire. some will hire you with an ADN and not expect you to get a BSN. some won't hire without the ADN. best bet is to contact the hospitals in the area you want to work in (or look at their online RN job listings, they should indicate if a BSN is required).

Yes, you can still get a job. It depends on where you live on how hard it will be. Where I am I had no trouble and was hired before graduation. To a Magnet hospital no less. I did have to agree to get a BSN within x amount of years but I planned on it anyway.

It really depends on where you live. In a big city with many nursing programs of all levels it will be difficult to find hospital employment as the sheer number of new grads means the hospitals can ask for BSN-only and have enough applicants. However, even in big cities exceptions are made, many hospitals will still hire an ADN nurse if they worked as a CNA or student nurse tech for the hospital prior to graduation. Some will hire any ADN nurse provided they sign a contract to get a BSN with in a certain period of time.

Many smaller communities and smaller hospitals will gladly hire ADN nurses because they don't have the same competition for jobs the big-city, big-name facilities do.

Yes, this. In my city there are a ton of BSN programs and the large academic medical centers are BSN only for new grads but smaller community hospitals outside of the city will hire ADNs.

Yeah, some of my classmates who only achieved associates degrees are actually working more advanced nursing roles than I am. Seems like ADN vs BSN has little to do with anything
