am I just being overly cautious about my interview tomorrow?

Nurses General Nursing

I don't know why I feel kind of uneasy about this interview tomorrow. I have spent the past few weeks doing my focused practicums in OB. During this time, I worked with a preceptor. On one of my last days, I met with the director and asked about any nurse tech positions. She told me unfortunately, no, but to send my resume to her anyways. So, I did. When I turned it in, the HR person told me that there were no positions for OB, and I told her that I understood this, but this is what the director asked me to do. Because of this exchange, I have been somewhat disheartened because I thought I had some small shot at getting on even as a float. Well, today, I get this call wanting to know if I am still interested in the OB nurse tech position and if I am interested in interviewing for the position. WTF. As of Friday, there was no position, now there is? I would love to think that she decided to hire on a new tech, but am wondering if the HR person just made a blunder. I think I just don't want to get my hopes up, and then nothing happen as a result. Perhaps this is ineffective coping...I don't know. Anyways, words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated, cause I am so nervous about my interview tomorrow. Thanks, guys

People come and go in healthcare all the time. Go to the interview, put you best foot forward and good luck.

Heck yes go,, do your best. Friday is a major day for people to put in notices, change positions within the hospital. It could be that they would just like to get you into a tech position so they can try you out so to speak. It may lead to something when you are done with school. They may have someone going to retire in the next couple years. Good luck.

The manager may have *known* a position was opening up, but didn't want to get your hopes up until she had it verified. Try not to worry, it sounds like a great opportunity! They aren't going to give you the job unless there's a job to give! Healthcare changes DAILY!
