I'm currently a lpn on a med floor and have been for 2yrs.I graduate in 2 mths with my associates degree. Even though I like the med floor, I don't feel as though it is my "PASSION" Does anyone have any tips for finding my area of passion.

Specializes in ER, Infusion therapy, Oncology.

What areas did you rotate through during your clinicals? Which area did you seem to like the best? This is always a good place to start. Sometimes you just have to try an area for a while and see if it fits.

Hello:

How long would you try it out to see if it fits???? Would you leave while in orientation or just stay there a year so it looks better on your resume???????? Just curious.... I have tried out NICU and ER... not good fits. Have stuck with OR for 2.5 years and Ped private duty home care for 11 years. I have came to the conclusion that I like one on one nursing. I have found that doing a share day hasn't helped either.

SAGAUSE: If med/surg. isn't your passion I wouldn't stay there long term. Just use it as a stepping stone. You will have very good skills from working there that would folllow you in your career. Nursing is wide open. There are so many things you could do.... I guess you will just have to try out something that you feel you will like..... Have any idea of what that might be??? Good luck to you.
