ADN Jobs in NY

Nurses General Nursing

Hello. Are there any recent ADN grads in NY that were able to get a job? I know getting a job in a hospital is nearly impossible but what about other facilities? also what type of salary should I expect to make if I go the ADN route?

Specializes in Geriatrics, Home Health.

If you don't mind nursing homes, facilities in the Plattsburgh area are hiring. It's a bit remote, bit it has 2 college campuses and relatively affordable housing, plus Montreal is an hour away.

New York is a pretty big State and there's a great difference between the metro areas and the rural ones when it comes to available positions and wages. Much will depend on WHERE, specifically, you want to or are willing to live, and what kind of setting you are willing to work in.

I meant NYC and westchester area.

The general trend is that the more urban an area is, the tighter the job market and the more likely hospitals will require a BSN. Rural and small town hospitals tend to be more open to ADN prepared nurses.

Never been to NYC, but I would guess your best bet as a new grad ADN will be nursing homes or home care. Or maybe some more out of the box settings like dialysis clinics, detox clinics (got to be a few of those in NYC) or outpatient clinics.
