Cne (continuing nursing education units)
ceu (continuing education units)
Both term is interchangeable.
1 ceu = 10 contact hours

i plan to take an online course that offers 33 cne or ceu upon completion. It is NOT a college class. It's a nurse refresher course. Just how many hours is that equivalent to in real time?
i always figured 1 ceu or cne equals 1 hour of class or study time.
The site where I am taking the online self study class says 33 cne/ceu or 33 contact hours.

I'm just curious so that way I can plan to see how many hours a day to divide my time to study.
I could be wrong and 33 ceu doesn't necessarily equal to 33 hours of study time. And it could take longer, I hope not. I'm hoping 2 weeks to compete 33 ceu, that's about 2-3 hours a day studying.
although I've read 1 ceu = 10 contact hours. But I've completed 4 ceu credits in the past and it only took me 2-3 hours to complete. I'm just trying to gauge the time because I want to meet my goal of 14 days

Only you know how fast you read, how well you absorb what you've read, etc. Only you can answer your question.

I must be missing something where it says 1 CEU = 10 contact hours. I see where it says 0.25 academic credits = 10 contact hours.
As someone who regularly develops CEU programs my experience is that 1 CEU = 1 contact hour.
Generally for every 1 CEU the participant must be engaged for 1 hour, whether that is studying 1 hour or listening to a presentation for 1 hour.
