General Chemistry Lab

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Can anyone tell me what to expect in chemistry lab? I did horrible in chemistry and barely passed even though I had tutors. I just could not get the hang of it. I am transferring schools and luckily my chemistry class will transfer, but this school requires a chem lab. Is it anything like lectures? What will I be doing? I would love a heads up!

Honesty, a little bit of everything. You'll play with turns solids into liquid, combustion, equations, energy, heat, etc.

Lab is where you apply what you've learned in chem lecture. So, don't throw away your old notes just yet. I found lab to be much more enjoyable than the lecture portion of chem, so give it a chance. I felt it was fairly simple. As long as you are methodical and organized, lab is pretty much a straight-forward course.

Do your pre-lab homework, type up (or hand-write) your procedures and basically, just follow the process. Don't try to rush things (like heating your liquids too high or not waiting for them to cool down enough to move on, etc.), take your time weighing your materials, and be as exact as possible.

I really liked lab even though I didn't care for chem lecture at all. Good luck :D
