I have observed several discussions about the challenges of being a male nurse and the said animosity towards male nurses compliment of their female peers. I am about to graduate from nursing school as a male RN. I have worked on a med/surg floor as a nurse apprentice and find it interesting to observe the relations between male and female nurses. I haven't seen any animosities but have observed communication problems that could be explained in terms of gender differences. Nursing is such a unique feild in that we as men are the minority. What effect do you think the demographics of the nursing profession has on gender relations?
Personally, I haven't seen anything posted I would call 'redneck'. Would be interested in what the comment was.
I really enjoy reading the male nursing forum, but hesitate to post cause it just doesn't seem fair to butt my nose into your territory.
As far as figuring out women - lostdruid said it all. Just remember that the sympathetic grunts are very important. Makes us think you are really listening and care. :rotfl:
This must be a forum for red necks. Women are human beings believe it or not.
Red neck-hardly! When I started this thread it was simply to point at the differences between men and women in terms of there communication. I would never suggest that women are any less human or competent. Humor? I find the differences between men and women to be the source of many humorous as well as enlightening experiences. 95% of my friends and coworkers are female and I would certainly never want to insult anyone.

Well, good, then being a male nurse, from Kentucky, I should fit right in.
And BTW, in nursing, it is often the case that we have to remind the women that WE are human beings too.
To the guys that apologized, don't, I think this thread was in good fun, and no matter what you say, someone is going to get offended, so I have learned that one of two things will happen..
They will get over it...or they won't. Either way, my life will go on.

Say what? I was the guy [Corvette Guy :chuckle ], and yes this Thread has been in good fun without any inappropriate male comments, IMHO.
As a man, If I ever figure out women I'm going to write a book. I'll make alot more money selling it than I ever will being a nurse! LOL:D
My opinion is that women are like a magicians sleight of hand trick.....to appreciate them you shouldnt even try to understand them.
It's been working for me for about 10 Years now, and my life is way easier than before. Think of all the trouble I save my self to just accpt "that is the way it is" and not keep asking WHY? HOW? all the time
lol i threw th sir 'cause you are an officer and i am enlisted
Huh?
NurseKevin, here is your previous post; Well, good, then being a male nurse, from Kentucky, I should fit right in.

Huh? This is not a forum for rednecks. This is a Male Nursing Forum for discussion with nursing related issues specific to Men in Nursing. I will most definitely apologize right now if I've offended anyone with my previous post on this Thread. Humor is certainly difficult to get across sometimes via msg brds. Seriously, I have the upmost respect, admiration, and genuine compassion for women. My wife is my lifeline in this world.
