way, way, way too sensitive to be a nurse???!! How do you know if you are? I am really worried about peds. clinical. Anytime I see anything to do with sick children, I just lose it. WAAAAA! Must be the mother in me, but it makes me worried that I wont be able to keep it together in clinicals.

You will do better than you think you will! For one thing, you are so busy that you do not have time to fret. And also, it's good for your psyche to know that you are actively helping the situation.

Peds actually was a wonderful rotation. I liked taking care of the sick kids. Most of what we had were little ones with rotavirus.

Remember, those TV programs are written to bring the emotions out of you. And sitting and watching is not the same as working and doing!

I used to cry over those corny long distance commercials -- that shows you what I'm like. Only twice did I cry during clinicals...once when a dying patient's wife was showing me their wedding pictures (while crying herself), and once when my instructor came unglued and yelled at our group.

Keep in mind that it's only a short time, and if that clinical area bothers you, then when you graduate, you will know to choose a different area to work in.

Wow, thanks for that dose of reality. I guess I was just doubting myself again!

You gave me some good stuff to think about-I appreciate it! ;)

Amy~

I cry at those coffee commercials around Christmas time when folks come together to see each other....

You'll do fine.

I cry when I watch Pet E.R. on the animal planet channel. I just can't handle animals getting hurt. I'm not that way with people tho, which is good. At least most people can let you know how they feel. It gets easier and easier with patients. You're there to help patients out the best that you can! They need someone to listen and help them.
