Hi. Do you know anything about the capstone project and finding placement? I already work in public health so can I use those hours for the public health portion? Also do you plan on getting your PHN after? If so I’m wondering if we have to do 40 extra hours public health as the BRN requires 90 but GCU 40...
Your Field Experience Counselor should be assisting with you in finding placement. They try to leave up to you, but they may have Affiliation Agreements in place already in your area. I believe they are being a bit lenient right now with the requirements because of COVID-19. It is also virtual right now. When are you supposed to do your Capstone? I start in July.
I do not plan on doing PHN ? I meant to ask more information on it but with everything going on right now, I decided against it. I haven’t had the best experience with GCU, so I’m doing what I need to graduate.
I see, I started in Aug and my field experience counselor reached out first week of Dec. if you go on your portal, you’ll be able to see who you are assigned to, maybe you can reach out to them.
I honestly don’t like the group projects, and in my opinion I would of gone with a school that didn’t require the capstone. I asked prior to starting if any additional hours would be required and I was told no, and I would be able to do my Capstone at my work. Well I work in a hospital and prior to Covid19, I had to find a case manager or infection control nurse if I wanted to do it at work. I feel like they give deceiving information, which is totally wrong. I personally know other individuals that had this happen to them as well. Unfortunately they didn’t share that portion of it and I never thought to ask about the Capstone. I’ve found some instructors are much more responsive than others, and some flat out could careless.
As far as the group projects go, you kinda just wait until all your classmates respond. So sometimes one person is stuck doing all the work, yet everyone gets the same grade regardless of the time and effort one put in.
