Hello Everyone,
I know it is extremely early in the year but, the May deadline will be here before we know it. I wanted to see if there is anyone out there applying for GCU specifically in Tucson but, also in phoenix. I want to hear your experiences with the application process and the new Hesi A2 exam. I am planing on taking my Hesi A2 at the end of March.
look forward to hearing from yall

Does anyone have any advice for the nursing program. How is the first semester? Do you do any sort of hands-on things. I know it says clincials don't start til semester two so was going to ask, thanks! Just got accepted to AT Still so was curious!
You have 2 labs the first semester. You have a lab for Pharmacology and its basically learning how to pass medication and how to administer po,Im,iv,sq meds. Also learning Med Math. The other lab is for health assessment and that is basically learning how to access a patient, bath them, change beds, and so on. It can be really dry especially if you have no hospital experience like me but, if you have awesome instructors like we do down here in Tucson its a lot of fun and you learn a lot.
The first semester is going great and I can't wait to start the second in January!
The best advice I can give is to take it day by day. Im not sure if everyone is doing the 16 month program like myself but it is always a lot of information. Do not freak out and panic... just breathe. Nursing school is hard but if you have a good attitude you can make it with flying colors. I was so stressed at the beginning and now that we are 9 weeks in Im a little more calm. Im still stressed but I'm learning I still have to have a life. And I am happy that I am getting B's on my exams and A's and B's in all my classes.
I bought the package, its worth it because you get everything including codes for online which you do need and what you don't use the 1st level you use the second level. and the packages go down every level... so i paid like $685 for all my books first level and 2nd level was $230
Which level codes are you talking about, if you don't mind me asking? Are you talking about the codes for Evolve resources, sim lab, or mosby vids?
Level 1, I didn't buy the package and I spent $100-150 less because of renting or buying used. I purchased the RN Sim Lab code directly from Elsevier and the Mosby Video code from Amazon for much cheaper than the publisher. (In the end the school, paid for Mosby videos and Evolve Hesi practice so I got my Mosby video code refunded)
The Evolve resources are free directly from the publisher.
As for Level 2, we were given a list of three books but no access codes to purchase. We were told we need the Evolve resources, but those are free.
So far, I have saved between $15 to $50 per book by skipping out on the bundle.
Just trying to show alternatives to the bundle :)

Hey sorry I haven't responded... I have been SLAMMED! ???As she explained above... there is sooooooo much work! You will always be busy with assignments... papers... reading the next weeks chapters... plus trying to study previous material for upcoming exams..
This was Week 4... and I feel better about things. We had a lot of confusion as to what was expected each week in the Loud Cloud system.. Took some time to get us students understanding all that as well as our professors. But I feel good about it now.. just never feel "caught up" to relax.. there are always things I need to do for school. I am ABSOLUTELY thankful I do not have a job... however I have kiddos and a hubby... So I try to be available to them... which can be a tough juggle.
I look at it like this... there are TONS of nurses out there that made it.. PLENTY of GCU students that have made it... AND all the GCU students in the levels above me that I see walking around the school... it IS doable.. ??? I'm going to be strong and get through it and be the best ?nurse I can be!!!!
Let me know if there are any other things you want to know. ☺
