GCU ABSN 2023

Published

Thought I'd start a thread for Grand Canyon University ABSN 2023 potentials. I am currently finishing up Applied Nutrition through study.com and will be taking Microbiology. After that I have Christian Worldview and Applied Pathophysiology. Hope to knock all these out and the HESI so I can start the core nursing classes in Spring or Summer 2023. Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm hoping to start at the Sun City location in January 2023! I highly recommend taking pathophysiology at Rio Salado if you're looking for a cheaper option than GCU. It's a community college in Arizona that offers courses online, and I know it transfers! I took 2 pre reqs through them and there's even an option to finish the course in 8 weeks.

I recommend using nursehub and the elsiver study guide to prepare for the HESI! I used nursehub only to study for the anatomy portion and scored a 98%. I studied for maybe 2 weeks. Elsiver is a good review for the math portion. I liked that it was short/straight forward, and it covered everything I saw on the test.

*For anyone missing Chemistry, anatomy, or lifespan development, Rio Salado offers those courses too!

Here are the courses/what they're as at Rio Salado that transfer over to GCU:

Chemistry and lab CHM130/CHM130L

Anatomy BIO202

Pathophysiology HCR240

Lifespan development PSY240

I'm not sure if they offer something for nutrition or Microbiology.

Hello!

I am hoping to start at Sun City Fall 23. I am curious if you know if GCU is a pass/fail system for their classes? Your information has been really helpful thank you! ?

Sooo refreshing to hear!! I'm terrified of the micro, I also needing A&P so planning on doing that one too! Hoping I can get them done so I can get into Spring! If not fall start is OK with me.

Hello! Did you end up making the Spring 2023? I am trying to get into the Fall 2023 in AZ.

Hi! I used study.com for microbio and Pathophysiology and they transferred over perfectly to GCU and I'm starting officially Spring 2023!

Hello!

Do you know which Pathophysiology class you used on Study.com to transfer to GCU? I am looking to take Patho on Study.com but the only class listed does not transfer directly to the course code listed for GCU that I need to take.

Yes, I have! I need to take CWV & HESI A2, starting next week, so hopefully be ready by Sept!

I have to retake Microbiology,  Anatomy 1 and 2, Chemistry,  nutrition and Christian worl views. So I'm hoping to start in the Spring. Anyone else taking these at gcu or wanting to start in the Spring?

Also I have never taken a class at gcu.  Should I avoid it and take all classes at community college? (Cost isn't playing a factor because of grants) I have taken lots of classes at the community college.

Same. I'm doing all prereqs on study.com except the ones that I HAVE to do at GCU. I should be ready by Spring as well

I am, I just haven't started it yet. Right now I'm finishing up Nutrition, and working on Life Span Development and Anatomy and Physiology

Oh okay! Was an advisor able to tell you which patho class on study.com is transferable? I see a path class on study.com but it's not showing as transferable with the GCU patho course code I was given to complete.
