I’m hoping to start at the Sun City location in January 2023! I highly recommend taking pathophysiology at Rio Salado if you’re looking for a cheaper option than GCU. It’s a community college in Arizona that offers courses online, and I know it transfers! I took 2 pre reqs through them and there’s even an option to finish the course in 8 weeks.
I recommend using nursehub and the elsiver study guide to prepare for the HESI! I used nursehub only to study for the anatomy portion and scored a 98%. I studied for maybe 2 weeks. Elsiver is a good review for the math portion. I liked that it was short/straight forward, and it covered everything I saw on the test.
*For anyone missing Chemistry, anatomy, or lifespan development, Rio Salado offers those courses too!
Here are the courses/what they’re as at Rio Salado that transfer over to GCU:
Chemistry and lab CHM130/CHM130L
Anatomy BIO202
Pathophysiology HCR240
Lifespan development PSY240
I’m not sure if they offer something for nutrition or Microbiology.
Similar situation. Other than taking CWV, I have to take Nutrition, Stats all over again because my credits expired. I had no idea that these classes were only 8 weeks thru GCUs online program and they offered a reduced tuition rate. Hope y'all make into the January core. Food for thought: to speed up the process quicker, best to get fingerprint clearance and background checks before the holidays.
I did mine a while back and it took a few weeks. I would definitely do it as soon as possible because you can run into delays. Hope this helps!

I am new to all this I didn't know we had to do fingerprints. Thanks for this

Hi! I used study.com for microbio and Pathophysiology and they transferred over perfectly to GCU and I’m starting officially Spring 2023!
Just now, Angela Codd said:Amazing! Did you have them transfer a letter grade? I need to raise my GPA so the pass wouldn’t help me..
Also, we’re they hard going through study.com?
They give letter grades! You get a graded percentage like a regular class and you have them send over the transcript. I definitely think it’s easier than in person since it’s all self paced and u can take the quizzes three times for the best grade and can retake the final!

Thought I'd start a thread for Grand Canyon University ABSN 2023 potentials. I am currently finishing up Applied Nutrition through study.com and will be taking Microbiology. After that I have Christian Worldview and Applied Pathophysiology. Hope to knock all these out and the HESI so I can start the core nursing classes in Spring or Summer 2023. Anyone else in the same boat?
