Gateway Fast Track LPN Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I recently joined the waitlist for the LPN program at Maricopa/Gateway CC! I’m hoping for placement into Spring 2021, but I’m not sure if the wait is at 1 or 1.5 years right now. The waiting is hard, but I’m just really happy to be on the list and so excited! Is anyone else hoping for admission in 2021? I figured I would make a new thread for this year.

Anyway, I think I’m going to use this time to work on RN prereqs in case I want to bridge. What is everyone else doing to prepare?

I waited a year to get in. I just graduated. I think the wait is closer to 1.5 years but they were thinking of opening another cohort from what I was told ( I think double).

Wow, really? Do you know when they were thinking of rolling out the second cohort?

Many congrats on completing the program! I’ve heard it is challenging, but 100% worth it. Looking forward to learning and working hard.

P.S. If you have any tips on prepping for LPN study, I’d love to hear them!

Additional question for anyone who may have experience: when do wait list emails tend to go out for each coming semester?

Can you explain how to figure out when you will be placed. I just got waitlisted on 02/03/20.

Hi Cly! Congrats on joining the waitlist. ?

I’m new to this too, but as I understand it, we will be contacted when it is our turn to be placed in an upcoming cohort. I’m not sure what times of year the emails usually go out—hopefully someone else can chime in! However, it’s a good idea to check your Maricopa student email frequently.

So with me be waitlisted Feb 2 would I be expected to start possibly spring 2021. I wish it was sooner seems like such a long wait. I've been checking my Maricopa everyday since I got waitlisted ??‍♀️? I'm so ready. Thank you for your response

I know, the waiting is so hard! Can I ask—were you told to expect a 1 year wait, or 1.5 years? I was told 1-1.5, but just wondering what things look like now.

P.S. Maybe we will be in the same cohort—definitely check back in here if you hear anything! ?

The letters usually go out in october and march. I was sent a letter saying I was about 3rd in line and then a few weeks later, I was accepted.

They changed the course in fall of 2019. They are no longer using elseiver for their textbooks. I was told from previous students to use the medsurg success (Amazon) book to practice.

I wish I had used more flashcards. If you create a study guide/flashcard system for yourself, it'll be easier to study for the final and you won't be scrambling. They also provide the powerpoints. Taking notes on the powerpoint really helps.

They also tell anecdote stories in class to help you remember certain things (which a test question will be about).

This is really helpful! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us. ?

Rhubarbstrawberry just checking in with you to see if you received any emails. I saw that someone said emails go out in March and October! I'm hoping for a short wait.

Hi Cly! I haven’t received an email yet—curious if anyone else on the waitlist has.
