My daughters' pediatrician is encouraging all female patients to receive this vaccine. I have mixed feelings about this. I do not want my girls to get cervical cancer from HPV, but in 15 yrs from now, what if we find out that there are long-term problems associated with the vaccine? Why are males not targeted for this vaccine? I am interested in hearing from nurse/mothers who have or have not gotten their daughters vaccinated and why.

The problem with this statement is that HPV can be spread even if condoms are used. Therefore, even a smart educated young women will still be at risk of HPV.
Having had high rish HPV myself and not wanting to get other forms of HPV I had the vaccine even being happily married. All the 'what ifs' is how I came to my decision.
What if he cheats. What if I cheat. What if we divorce.... and so on
I did very well with the vaccine, no problems. Fainting though is by far the largest complaint with the vaccine. It is reccomended that you stay seated for 15 minutes after the injection to avoid this side effect. To date no deaths or serious injury have been reported.
My future daughters will be getting this vaccine.
