Hi! Can anyone who has applied to Galen please tell me if there is a minimum GPA for the LPN program??? Or, what your GPA was? I am not sure if I need to be worried about this and if it is a very selective program or not, thanks!

Hey there! I checked out Galen thoroughly and they're not difficult to get into. They require certain SAT/ACT scores (or get a suitable score on their test) but they didn't say anything to me about my GPA. (which was a 2.9 weighted in high school because I'm lazy )
The real problem is they charge $25,000 for it...
Check out pTEC if you don't want to bust your piggy bank.
Thanks so much for letting me know!!!! That was great advice and I really appreciate it. :wink2:
Anyone else?

I just got accepted to the November 2009 LPN class. And it is not $25,000 for the LPN class. Its actually $15,000. They dont really check your GPA, but do look at your ACT/SAT scores and if you feel more comfortable you can take the Pre-Entrance Exam, which is fairly simple if you study! The reason why I am going to Galen, is because of the no-wait. I believe pTech, keiser, erwin, and the other technical schools are long waits!

I am starting the LPN evening class on Nov 9th, and I am shocked I passed the entrance exam. To me it was hard, but I passed! I think they are looking at the overall picture, and not just your exam score. I mean, you have to pass, but it doesn't have to be the best score. I also chose Galen because there is no wait list. Any other questions just ask!

I pretty sure, if you have the money...they let anyone in??? Thats what I have been told..
ladybug, it could be true, but at orientation there was only like 40 people in there.... I cant imagine that out of all the people that applied and took the exam, couldnt of been denied because they didnt have the money... =\
huh? What Im saying is ... they accept anyone..regardless of pre req's
huh?? what i am saying is they really dont care who gets in..they dont look at pre req's or gpa... you take a simple entrance test... which means pretty much anyone with a ged and a clear back ground can get in... ... and its super expensive..as long as you have the loans to get in you should be good to go!
^^ the question was if the program is selective or not.. i think no, its not! very easy to get into!

Galen is a great school for LPN, I graduated in August.
Our class started with 50 people and half the class graduated. I think all of us have passed the board exam.
The real problem now is that there are pretty well no jobs for new LPNs or new RNs.
