Galen 2013-2014

I wanted to start this thread for anyone planning to attend Galen this year or next. I am possibly going to be starting in January. I just took the PAX test and passed! I just have to get through this semester.

Hi! I am taking the Pax-RN on the 14th. I have hopes of doing the LVN-RN bridge starting in October. How was the PAX test? I heard that its a beast! Congrats on passing it!

The vocab section, either you know the fancy words or you don't. With reading comprehension, the answers are all right there so you can't go wrong. Study math. Know during the test you only have a small period of time to finish however you won't know how many questions are on that section. Science, you should also study. My test was mainly Biology and Physics. I bought the PAXRN study guide from the NLN. Come to find out, the NLN puts out the PAX.

Good Luck!

What school do you plan on attending?

Oh ok good. I bought the pax-rn study guide as well. I am nervous about the physics part. I mean... Thermodynamics?!?

I am pretty good when it comes o vocab and reading comprehension. I scored 100% on the Hesi and Tabe test for the entrance exam for my LPN program. I just really suck at math. I am planning on attending the LVN-RN bridge at Galen in San Antonio.

I don't understand. I thought it was a set amount of questions? We have to get 92 out of 214 right, correct?

That is what they said but mine was 96 out of 200. Even still, there was only 40 math questions, 50 science and 50 vocab. Your score could range from 0-200.

Overall scores range from 0 to 200. The average is around 100, and the standard deviation, a measure of

variability around the average, is 20. Most scores fall between 50 and 150. Please note that these scores are

not the same as the percentage of items answered correctly on a 100-point scale, i.e. an overall score of 75

does not equal 75 percent.

Aye.... So I technically won't know if I got the score needed to pass? I hope I do. Thanks for your help! So your program starts in Jan? Nervous?

January yes. You will know your score as soon as you are done. I was able to pull a report which told me my rank, percentages and then overall score.

Oh ok cool. Are you doing the bridge program or the standard ADN program?

Due to having to work, evening LPN but I tool the PAXRN

After I have the diploma, I plan on working and taking bridge classes online at a less expensive school.

Hello I was wondering what is the required score for in class testing? I know some schools require a minimum of 80% to pass a test in any class. There are also some that require an 80% for the LPN but an 75% for the RN program, so I'm curious to find out what Galen requires. Thx for any info
