GALEN COLLEGE OF NURSING TAMPA BAY FALL 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi,

I just wanted to start this chat because I have not heard/seen any other people who plan on attending Galen College of Nursing Tampa Bay for the Fall 2020 semester. I am a 23 year old female From NJ with a Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology and Psychology from Penn State. I am doing the accelerated BSN program. Please reach out if you are in this program or just a Galen student! I would love to make friends before moving down there!

@selenuuuh17 If you need help looking for places, let me know! I've lived in this area my whole life (aside from a short stint in DC). That's so exciting! I have my enrollment appt next Monday and I'm super excited. Do you have a Bachelor's already? And I have an insta but I'm not on it a whole lot. It's yay_ayshaa ?

Thank you so much! My husband was stationed in Tampa for a few years, he grew up in Orlando so he’s familiar with the area. I don’t have a bachelors, just my AA but I did all the pre-reqs already. Did you Finish your pre-reqs? I have a friend who has a bachelors in public health as well and I think she had to do most of the BSN pre-reqs for her degree. Good luck with your enrollment apt! So far everyone has been really nice, they just received my transcripts so they’re reviewing them to see what transfers over. I just followed you back! ?

Will do. I don't get my results till tomorrow. ?The test itself was OK. The english and language part are pretty basic, the math I felt was the easiest to be honest ( and im terrible at it). The science portion of it had me nervous. Brush up on A&P and keep doing the practice questions!

I passed the TEAS! I forgot to update ya'll! I'm waiting to hear back on them to reach out for an enrollment appt. More than likely, I'll be starting in October. ?

CONGRATS! ? good luck with the program!

@Fdleon they add up your scores from all the sections into one score. I think the minimum is around 60% or 50 something, check with Galen. download TEAS test apps and take the practice questions everyday. I used "ATI TEAS Pocket Prep" and "TEAS Mastery".

Good luck, you've got this!! I ended up scoring highest on math LOL and I am TERRIBLE at math. A&P was the trickiest.

Thank you for all your tips! I will download them. I am also very bad at math so I need to study. It is hard when you are working and have  kids.

Congratulations! Was it hard? I am still reviewing. Hopefully I get it done this month and pass the test in one go! ?

Don't worry you got this!! It was not bad. I felt a little bit more confident after taking the practice tests. But definitely brush up on A&P. If you have any questions let me know! I also just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant with my second baby so this will be definitely an interesting journey!!

Can someone please tell me if we need to pay to take the exam? I’ve been trying to call the admission but no luck. No one picks up the phone so I just leave a vm all the time. But then after a day or two, someone from the school would call me back. The problem is that they are using an unknown number so it goes directly to my vm.?

I just got off the phone from an enrollment appt and she said the TEAS was $40 ?  Hope that helps!

Congrats and how’s it going?

What was your score and what did you have to make to get accepted. Also, do you have an option to take the PAX or TEAS?

I think they're only doing TEAS right now with COVID but I'm not sure, I'd call and ask. I scored a 70% on the TEAS, after you submit your score, Galen does their own calculations. I am not sure what the minimum is but if you can at least get 70 you'll be okay.

Did you meet with admissions yet, did you get the official acceptance? I've been planning to start in April 2021 but I'm debating on doing January.

So turns out I wasn't pregnant but it's OK anyway! Financial aid was asking for more and more documents and I submitted everything so I wasn't able to start this october. Hopefully I'll be able to start January so this sucks. ?

I scored a 60 on galen's scores and they're doing the TEAS right now because of the pandemic. The test is not that bad I would say study study. Good luck! You got this!

Hey ladies! I was finally able to talk to the admission. She told me that I’ll be taking the TEAS. So I need to study. I’ve been using the pocket prep and TEAS mastery app to review. Hoping to start in January.
