As of July 1, 2008 due to house bill 1041 GA will no longer endorse excelsior graduates. At this point I am completely distraught over this. I am scheduled to take my last test monday and then I will be CPNE eligible but at this point will be unable to be licensed in GA as an RN! There is an extremely lenghty post regarding this under the student- distance learning forum. I would be happy to post any information here as well. Please help us in trying to have this policy changed, we need all the support we can get!

Hello all,
I am a Georgia EC student. The GaBON states on there web page that the new law states "During the 2008 session of the Georgia legislature, a bill was passed that requires all applicants
for licensure by endorsement to have graduated from a nursing education program approved by
the Georgia Board of Nursing or which meets criteria similar to, and not less stringent, than
those established by the Board. This bill went into effect on July 1, 2008 and is codified in
O.C.G.A. 43-26-7©. " What does this mean less stringent !!! Anyone can interrupt this however they like.

If its really true about the clinical hours being the problem, Then if we get the clinical hours problem should be solved, RIGHT. I don't think its that simple at all. I think the right person hands aren't being greased. What ever the case its deeper then just The clinical s.

I am an Excelsior College Grad I graduated in 2001. I recently applied for my GA license and heard this information. I took my clinicals in GA. I have been practicing in Fl for 7 years. I can't believe non of that is relevant to the state of GA. 8/17/08

Are you saying that Georgia would not license you now, even after obtaining 7 years of clinical experience in Florida? It was my understanding that this is only affecting new graduates, or am I mistaken?
that is correct I applied last month for a license in Georgia, they stated that do to the fact that I graduated from Excelsior I do not qualify for their license. I would not get a refund of my application fee. I took the in Atlanta Georgia that is one of the kickers...
I understand that several other states are taking this opinion also but I don't know which states it will be. I am not sure which states.
