GA BON no longer accepting Excelsior education; Speak up Cont. Updates!!

Published

Hey All,

I aM floored. I just received notice from GA Board of Nursing that they denied the endorsement of my MN RN license because I did not meet clinical practice requirements . When I called the board, they transferred me to a their Legal Nurse Consultant who stated that effective July 1, 2008 GA would no longer endorse RN license from Excelsior College students with no previous RN experience. She suggested that I go to my licensed state and work for a while then try again, but she could not give me a time frame.:banghead:

Has anyone else experienced this. I thought we should at least have gotten some sort of notice/warning before this type of rule be adopted by the board. I am going to file a motion for reconsideration using an Attorney. Before I entered Excelsiors program I called GA Board to verify acceptance. I had been accepted to a traditional LPN to RN bridge program; I could have been almost finished their too. I am so sad right now. I have been crying for two days. I think I will need to see my doctor for Zoloft.

I have been an LPN for over 13 years doing Med/Surg for at least 10. I work on a hospital unit right now. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!:banghead::banghead: :banghead:

Holy crap!!!!!! I spoke with the executive officer at the boards, she actually called me back!!!!! I am licensed in the state of georgia. She said it will be posted when the attorney general returns on monday and i'll have my license in the mail shortly there after. Omg!!! I am so excited!!!!!

We are so elated about your getting your license..we want to know who you are!!!!

Mailed it in December 27th, they did not acknowledge it until Jan 13th. If you go into Georgia.net @ http://sos.georgia.gov/cgi-bin/external.asp?link=www.ganet.org/rw_sch/search.cgi you can put 410 in the chapter number blank to see where you are on the list. I was posted on 1/13. They have to tell you something with in 60 calendar days from the date on that page (from what I have been told)

I'm on hold with the board right now. Did you get reviewed this past Wednesday? If so, I did, too....(crosses fingers)

Yes, Wednesday was the first batch reviewed.

Ugh, got one of the rude ones there...she told me "it's the same as it was when you called yesterday..." she's just the person who answers the phone, so she could not tell me anything! UGH!!!

Ok, so, I'll keep my fingers crossed all weekend....and my toes, and my legs (much to poor hubby's chagrin...)

I am so sorry, I asked the lady's name that I spoke to....but in all my excitement, I forgot it. Gosh, I wish I hadn't gotten so crazy minded.

I am sure you will be approved. I think they are doing some "token approvals" to verify that they are working with us. They can then discuss that in the committee meetings.
