FY 20 Navy Nurse

Published

Hello guys, congrats to all who were selected to the Navy Nurse Corps. To the nurses who are waiting patiently, stay positive! I'm a CVICU RN with only 8 months of experience. I'm also a fulltime online student for my RN-BSN degree, I'll graduate in December 2019. I have been in touch with a recruiter(she's very nice) since February about the process to get in as an ICU Nurse. I'm not a prior service member but I would love to serve as a RN . I was told that I can get started with my medical screening and get through MEPS while I'mwaiting for the FY2020 to come out in October 2019 and graduation. My recruiter won't be able to submit my package until I graduated in December. I'm currently doing my pre-medical screening and working on my credentials and background packages. The recruiter told me that the Navy always has ICU billets but I don't know if that will change because of the healthcare transition. I'll keep you guys updated

Oh WOW! I didn’t even realize they added more slots, hopefully it works in our favor. Honestly my recruiter hasn’t told me much, when I last asked her she said that she wasn’t sure of how many slots were left just because of the whole covid situation. I know that after we get selected it’s more paperwork then waiting to find out when start date is, etc. What were you told?

@Nels605 Just got word from my recruiter that the May board results just came out, so June board should hopefully be released in July. She said that every Friday she gets an updated list of available billets left so will keep you updated once I hear back.

The steps after selection:

1- Sign more documents for commissioning

2-Wait for the official Oath of Office "scroll" which can take a few weeks or months (60-90 days)

3- Swearing Ceremony. I'm sure it might be virtual due to COVID-19.

4- Choose a date for ODS. You will work with a detailer from this point forward.

5- Attend ODS!

@ckdb1995 I hope the Navy still have plenty of ICU billets left for the June and July boards. I was told that the selection board meets twice a month, can you double check with your recruiter? Please keep me posted. We can also keep in touch on facebook as well if you want. What do you think if we create a fb group for NAVY FY2020?

Please let me know if you create the fb group. It’s been a long and daunting process and any support from people who are in the same boat would help tremendously!

@Nels605 @caughtupinthismoment Did your recruiter tell you the board meets twice a month? Mine only mentioned once a month, but she said due to covid things have been delayed and probably have changed. I am down to make a fb group for people who have applied for FY 2020, probably would be easier to keep in touch! Glad to know there's other people who are feeling the same way as me during this process.

@ckdb1995 I did some research the selection board meets once a month on the 15th.So, today is the big day for June board (All the best to all). I don't know how long it will take for applicants to be notified. I created the FB group "Navy Nurse FY2020 Applicants"
