I haven't been to UQ, so I'm no help to you there.
That depends on your background and where you are now, both geographically and in terms of career and experience. I assume you're not Australian - people and things can be Aussie; the country's Australia or Oz/Aus.I'm also interested in oncology nursing. How do I get there in Aussie?
Thank goodness, same as you cannot be an Australian Nurse, without being an Australian. You can however be a Nurse with Australian Registration.
Apparently registration with AHPRA changes your citizenship as well.
Australia is hardly ever referred to by many overseas nurses from certain continents as Australia and an Australian is never referred to as an Australian. Its always aussies and aussie or aus/oz!
Seems we are not worth the full title most of the time.
Sorry for the rant and totally off topic, I am proud to be an Australian Nurse and worked damned hard over many years to be one in Australia and my mother went to great difficulty and pain for me to be able to claim the title of an 'Australian Nurse' and I have a massive HECS debt to the Australian government, to pay back still, for my undergraduate and post graduate nursing degrees.
Well, first you have to enter an education program and meet registration requirements. Then, if you're in Australia you need to apply for, enter and complete a graduate program, preferrably with an oncology rotation, then apply for a position on an oncology unit. If you're overseas you need to get paid postregistration experience at home, then apply for Australian registration through AHPRA. Either way you're looking at a minimum of four years from the time you begin studying. Good luck.

Hi, I'm thinking of applying for Masters in Nursing (Graduate Entry) at University of Queensland. Anyone here has been through the course or any thoughts about it?
I'm also interested in oncology nursing. How do I get there in Aussie?
Thank you!
