My facility gives tuition reimbursement and "encourages" us to get a B.S.N. Yet how in the heck am I supposed to do this. My manager told me the other day that she can "never" assure me a consistent day off for "any reason," "ever" -- "not even classes."Does this mean I will have to leave the profession or bedside nursing to become a more educated nurse?!?!?!
Maybe look for a different unit? That is insane, that they can't guarantee a day off for any reason. Slavery was outlawed a long time ago.
My facilty allows you to block out dates that you have class.
However, there are also a lot of online RN to BSN programs out there.
My advice is to figure out how to do this. You have to take care of yourself before worrying about the needs of the floor you are on. Without a BSN there are some jobs you just won't be able to get (whether that is right or not is a totally different topic).
Good luck!

I agree with the above posts. There are lots of good online programs out there that work well for people who are working full time and need flexibility. BSN completion programs know that their prospective students have this problem and most try to accommodate their needs.
