Hey everyone,
I've read a few posts with varying responses about being in school while taking care of a new born. But I wanted get opinions on my particular situation.
This September my wife and I are expecting our first child to be born. My wife plans to take her 3 months of maternity leave and then return back to work in Dec. I will then leave my job to stay home with the baby and work towards finishing up my pre-requisites online. By the time my wife goes back to work I plan to have A&P I, A&P II, Statistics, Eng Comp I, and Micro completed. I want to have my pre-requisites (30 credits) finished by end of spring semester 2018 so I can apply for nursing school for Fall 2018. What are your thoughts on taking 4 classes (12 credits) while taking care of a new born that is 4-5 months old? The classes would be Eng comp II, human development, humanities, and general psychology.
I'm pretty good at time management but I have no experience with the demands of a new born. So any insight would be appreciated.

The 4 classes you listed are easy classes. I dont see any problem with that schedule.

Unless the classes have synchronous (everybody online at the same time) requirements, it shouldn't be a problem. It should be pretty easy to fit your coursework around baby duties.

I am starting back to school in the summer. I don't have a newborn, but I do have twins that just turned two on the 6th. I finished my registration today and paid for my fees. I am taking 14 credit hours. A&P 1, Intro to Spanish, Intro to Humanities, and Pre-cal.

As long as you can time manage it shouldn't be too bad. I was taking classes on campus when my son was 6 months old. I made A's and B's. I would've done better but I had moved by myself during my pregnancy to have room for him and I was a first time mother adjusting to doing everything while my support lived 30 minutes away. I did school work while he was sleeping and/or doing tummy time. Good luck to you!

I had my first baby while in nursing school full time (and working part time.) What you propose sounds very doable. At that age the baby will still be taking sizable naps, will likely be feeling better if s/he was colicky, but won't yet be George Mallorying up the fridge (true story.) That isn't a hugely difficult class load either
Congratulations!
Thanks to all of you for your congratulatory words as well as your and words of advice/encouragement. They were very helpful! I'm confident that I will be able to handle it.
