Sassy, did you make alternate last term and then re-apply for this semester? Does anyone know how far down the alternate list they will usually go? Do we think with covid people will be passing up their seats? I am alt. #32 and did not apply anywhere else. I was distressed when I got my letter last night. Even admissions said with my score, if I got alternate I would probably be top 10 =(

Hi Holly!

I'm excited for you, good luck with getting in for the fall semester! I'm honestly not sure how far they go down the list but there may be someone who falls short on getting the requirements done by the deadline. Sometime that can knock you off the list, so just hang in there and pray for the best.

On anyone free time can u tell a little about how your first semester is going what class u guys taking? is it hard? are the teachers helpful? are u scared, nerves, excited LOL ?

Sassy! Thinking back to how everything started LOL

First off get all of your immunizations together.... bc we only had a few weeks to do this and for me it was hard bc I don't work in an actual health care setting yet. So make sure to have everything up to date....

Save a little money bc you will need to purchase a online account w Castlebranch in order to upload your documents, records and also submit your drug test and background check... Maybe all together youll need a few $100

Youll have to have your uniform purchased and embroidered as well so these little things add up quick.

As far as the program the teachers are so helpful and really want their students to succeed, I am thoroughly enjoying everything.. the process is challenging and tiring but thats expected.

I would brush up on your math if youre not good at that... look over some fractions and percentages maybe. Go over your A&P bc by the middle of the second month these things WILL come up again. The lungs, Kidneys, heart... all of this will go more into depth.

I think the most important advice I can give is understand HOW you learn bc this program goes by so sooo fast and there is alot of material that you will be covering. So get a good handle on understanding how you learn best bc here its not just about facts but its also about applying all of the information you know, then choosing the best route and knowing what to do next. You have to think ahead of the game and that can be alot while learning.

Get your rest now bc you won't be bored in the next few months, thats for sure. You will always have something to do and always feel like theres not enough time LOL

Hi Sassy,

I am wondering if the 72 student admitted first were given a deadline to turn things in (such as the medical form and provide credentials for CNA & CPR). Have these deadlines changed any due to covid-19? Last I knew, they had already admitted 10 alternates, but that was over a week ago, so I am hoping I will still have a chance. Any info would be helpful. I hope you are well & healthy!!

Hi Holley!

We had a few weeks to turn in our CNA and CPR information into Castlebranch. Our orientation was in the Middle of October and we had to have our shot record, flu shot (if needed), CNA and CPR submitted and loaded into the system before the due date which was a month later.... the catch is Castlebranch takes their time approving this information so the safest way to go about this is to have it completed early.

As far as CNA and CPR info certifications this hasn't been made 100% clear yet... theyve just told us that they know that the AHA has extended the CPR renewal dates for 120 days. I wish I had more info for you on that to share.

Good luck with everything!

Hi Sassy33! Yes, embroider your lab jacket AND scrub top.

Hi y'all! Im applying for Spring 2021 semester! My score is 168. Im a little bit nervous on getting accepted, but reading this forum really helped ease my nerves!! How much money do you think y'all spent your first year of nursing school (including books, scrubs, castle branch stuff, etc)? I'm trying to see how much money I need to have saved!

Hey I do not know if anyone is active on this thread anymore but a bunch of us got letters yesterday (10/13) but none of us can open them. Did they send denials and acceptance all at the same time? Or did they send acceptance and alternates at the same time? We are all a ball of anxiety. I know its a mistake but how could they make it so no all of us cannot open our letter to know if we got in or not. Ahhhh!
