FSW Fall 2015

Published

Florida Southwestern State College formerly Edison State College. I started thread for FSW but it is full with spring applicants. So I decided to start a new one for this upcoming fall.

Who is joining me next fall in nursing?

I plan to apply for Part-time or Lee full time. I have one more semester of pre-requisites. I am taking A&P 1, Micro, College Algebra and Nutrition. Kill me now. :arghh: lol A full time semester of craziness but almost done after that hopefully with pre-requisites with the exemption of A&P 2 and a humanities class.

I plan to take the Hesi in mid Feb or march and retake if needed at the end of April. Schedule has been posted and I plan to study a lot this winter break. So excited but so nervous.

I just called and the woman on the phone isn't the most pleasant woman to speak to. She sounds incredibly irritated by any question posed to her. I asked her when the status would change to nursing student, so that we can register. She said all of the background checks, etc. need to be checked out and sorted through and then they will send out admission packets with information. So pretty much, no information is given. If they atleast gave of some information or some timelines or something, they wouldn't have people calling with so many questions. So it's a waiting game at this point.

I agree if they dont want to be irritated with dumb questions, they should have answers. We are in limbo and I think we deserve to know an exact time frame. It seems like are kinda disorganized.

Imo, it doesnt take much to sort through background checks. I mean if you are cleared then you are accepted if not move on. What's so hard about that?

One thing I have noticed is that FSW is extremely!! Disorganized I have gotten into shouting battles with the admissions and financial aid offices due to their incompetence. I ended up being right in both occasions.

Don't get me started on financial aid. I called yesterday to check my status because I have not heard anything from them about it since I first submitted it MONTHS ago....She said they have NONE on file for me. Checking my fasfa confirmation email it was submitted in March to the school. So now, I have to wait until the social security admin confirms my identity to resend. Gotta love this school. Name may have changed, BAD HABITS HAVE NOT!

Oh boy. Yeah financial aid is a pain. I remember when I started it never kick in until a month later and I had to pay for my classes. I got my money but still a very big headache. Actually they cost me to behind a semester because of dropping my class. I wanted to take biology last summer so I could have taken a&p 1 in fall but it didnt happen. Oh well.

I wish I could post a screenshot of my phone log from today. I was on the phone with 4 different people in 3 different departments, looking for my transcripts from the college I graduated from and one I attended after. They could not find my transcripts, have not processed them and therefore my financial aid has not gone through. Long story short, of course the college had them. Incompetenct is an understatement. And this process isn't any better.

Hi everyone! I got into the Collier campus full time program. Please let me know when anyone gets their packet in the mail or email. I feel like its taking forever! Thanks :)

Yup, they're doing the same to me

Hey guys! I'm going to buy a stethoscope soon. I was wondering from people currently in the medical field what brand and model you guys recommend? I have close to ZERO experience with them with the exception of a blood pressure lab in A&P II. :o
