Hello everyone,
I wanted to create a thread for those of us that are planning on applying to the nursing program for fall 2016. We can post about studying for the HESI/TEASE. FSW has changed from the HESI beginning Febuary 2016, so those of you that haven't already taken it you must take the HESI before Febuary 1st. If not you will need to plan on studying for the TEASE. Application deadline is May 15th. We can post about our points, most of you know what that consist of. Students are admitted off from a point system, the higher the points the better chance you have of being selected for the program. Our points is based off how many prerequisites we have taken upon application, our gpa for those prerequisites we have taken. And finally our HESI or TEASE score. For those of you that haven't taken the HESI or TEASE we can plan a study group either online or in person. I'm a in my final class required to apply (AP I), in another school. I will have 7 courses completed upon application so that gives me 29 points for that. I have not taken the HESI yet so I don't know my points for that yet. I haven't been able to figure out my final gpa yet because I'm in this last course. But I hope to get to know some of you and I hope one day we will even be in class together!
Hello everyone, I was going to start nursing program at FSW this coming fall and due to some family situation will not be able to do it. I've already purchased the uniform that just arrived last week and now have to sell it. All brand new, never worn. I have: wonder work shirt size XS, wonder work pants XS, and two school polos in size S purple and blue color. Please let me know if you need any of it, will offer a good deal. Can buy all together or separate.
Sorry to hear that. I hope you get through whatever it is you are going through. May peace be upon you.
A lot more than anticipated: roughly 1600 study materials, 300 uniforms/shoes, 1800 tuition. I'm sure that will be compounded by stethoscope, notebooks, a watch with a second hand, etc. The good thing is that the bulk of the expense covers all 4 semesters.
Eeeeek! Yes. That's a lot more than I was thinking. Good that it's basically a one time expense though.
Do do you mind sharing your schedule ? I saw people post ones in this thread that were only 3 days, but then read that it would in fact be 4.
I think it's 3 days. Monday is basically classroom lecture 9-12. No class Tuesday. Wednesday is all day clinical, 6:30-4:30. Thursday is classroom lecture like Monday, then a simulation lab. Afternoon is Pharmacology. Friday no class. It's 11 hours. I'll be happy to tell you what it's like after I get a feel for it.

Oh awesome!! The 3 days is perfect. Thank you so much! I would love to hear how it's going after you get started/settled.
Question for you guys! I did not see anyone mention having to do a panel interview as part of their application process. FSW website now states this is admission process:
Phase I: Initial review of applications is based on a calculation of admission points using completed pre-nursing course GPA, ATI TEAS test score, and the total number of general education/program specific courses completed. Pre-admission standardized examination includes the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS).
Phase II: At the applicant's expense, a college-approved criminal records check and drug testing must be completed. Note that applicants should consult Florida Board of Nursing if they have any criminal offenses, beyond minor traffic violations, which may limit obtaining Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
Phase III: In this phase, applicants will participate in a panel interview to assess written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Phase IV: Selected applicants will receive a letter of acceptance. The letter will include information for accessing the Nursing Program Policy & Procedures and Virtual Orientation. The student must submit an affidavit of acknowledgement, acceptance and compliance of the Nursing Program Policy & Procedures before the College Drop/Add Deadline.
Did anyone have to follow any of this for Fall?
