FSW Fall 2016 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create a thread for those of us that are planning on applying to the nursing program for fall 2016. We can post about studying for the HESI/TEASE. FSW has changed from the HESI beginning Febuary 2016, so those of you that haven't already taken it you must take the HESI before Febuary 1st. If not you will need to plan on studying for the TEASE. Application deadline is May 15th. We can post about our points, most of you know what that consist of. Students are admitted off from a point system, the higher the points the better chance you have of being selected for the program. Our points is based off how many prerequisites we have taken upon application, our gpa for those prerequisites we have taken. And finally our HESI or TEASE score. For those of you that haven't taken the HESI or TEASE we can plan a study group either online or in person. I'm a in my final class required to apply (AP I), in another school. I will have 7 courses completed upon application so that gives me 29 points for that. I have not taken the HESI yet so I don't know my points for that yet. I haven't been able to figure out my final gpa yet because I'm in this last course. But I hope to get to know some of you and I hope one day we will even be in class together!

The book package is $900 at the campus bookstore. Is anyone buying online or just going through them?

Reluctantly I purchased the bulk from the bookstore. These days I'm all about doing things the easy way. :/

Yeah I'm feeling the same way!

Is anyone else having issues with the ATI website and the online orientation information? My homepage looks nothing like what the power point shows and I can't find any information on a product code to enter anywhere....

Also I just purchased my books from the bookstore ($1,006 total) they said it would be cheaper than buying individually, it also come with online codes for MyNursingLab.

does any other book in the package include access code?

Did anyone get the Hep B vaccination? I don't know if I should or not

I'm not sure about any other book, but I think we get another code at the start of classes from our instructor.

I didn't, probably will do it later. Too much money spent already

I agree! !

I contacted a rep from ATI and they have made changes to their website. For example, the "Drug Guide" on your student homepage is no longer available (07/19/16) no further explanation was given at the time.

Is the additional material from ATI required? I just received an email that the bookstore has more materials totaling 565. This is getting very expensive.

Hi all! Now that everyone is getting ready to start - do you mind sharing what total first semester expense was (minus any vaccines or titers - just books, tuition, uniforms, etc) ?

Also what your schedules are for your campus?? Thanks in advance !

A lot more than anticipated: roughly 1600 study materials, 300 uniforms/shoes, 1800 tuition. I'm sure that will be compounded by stethoscope, notebooks, a watch with a second hand, etc. The good thing is that the bulk of the expense covers all 4 semesters.
