FSW Fall 2016 Nursing Applicants

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create a thread for those of us that are planning on applying to the nursing program for fall 2016. We can post about studying for the HESI/TEASE. FSW has changed from the HESI beginning Febuary 2016, so those of you that haven't already taken it you must take the HESI before Febuary 1st. If not you will need to plan on studying for the TEASE. Application deadline is May 15th. We can post about our points, most of you know what that consist of. Students are admitted off from a point system, the higher the points the better chance you have of being selected for the program. Our points is based off how many prerequisites we have taken upon application, our gpa for those prerequisites we have taken. And finally our HESI or TEASE score. For those of you that haven't taken the HESI or TEASE we can plan a study group either online or in person. I'm a in my final class required to apply (AP I), in another school. I will have 7 courses completed upon application so that gives me 29 points for that. I have not taken the HESI yet so I don't know my points for that yet. I haven't been able to figure out my final gpa yet because I'm in this last course. But I hope to get to know some of you and I hope one day we will even be in class together!

Actually it looks like the program is 4 days a week. Read the email our professor sent us (Charlotte campus)

Does it vary by campus? Cause from what I saw on collier seems to be only Monday Wednesday and Thursday?

I thought so too. Regarding uniforms, I went to Hamilton's yesterday and got 2 pairs of pants (per FSW requirements), a white scrub top to be embroidered and a polo in Maui blue. I probably should've gotten another white scrub top, in retrospect.

Is there a place in Collier that you can get the uniforms and have them embroidered?

I too am confused about the schedule. I was registered for A&P II for Tuesdays (based on the nursing classes they gave us Tuesday was free) but was told for the charlotte campus I need to be available on Tuesdays for simulation and Mondays and Fridays for clinical rotations. So I'm stuck with only being able to take a Saturday class for A&P II.

It wasn't as much as they said (their quote was 150). I think it was around 60.

I think your best bet is to just go there like I did. She has a rack with all the approved FSW uniforms. I am a worrier by nature, and I just went there to make sure I was getting the right thing. I'm in Collier too. It was worth it to me to be guided! Lol

Before you switch, I would call and see if there is a definite conflict.

Yeah I'll head down there. Did she mention how long it would take and if they mail it to you or you have to pick it up once embroidered?

Once ordered, they ship to the store. At that point they call you and you come in to make sure the fit is correct. Once fit is confirmed you pay for the uniforms and they then embroider and call you back again to pick them up. I bought a polo and 2 sets of scrubs and it was about 95$. That does not include embroidering. Embroidering will be an additional 8.00 per shirt.

The original estimated price of 150.00 also included a lab coat and slacks if necessary.
