FSW Fall 2016 Nursing Applicants

Published

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create a thread for those of us that are planning on applying to the nursing program for fall 2016. We can post about studying for the HESI/TEASE. FSW has changed from the HESI beginning Febuary 2016, so those of you that haven't already taken it you must take the HESI before Febuary 1st. If not you will need to plan on studying for the TEASE. Application deadline is May 15th. We can post about our points, most of you know what that consist of. Students are admitted off from a point system, the higher the points the better chance you have of being selected for the program. Our points is based off how many prerequisites we have taken upon application, our gpa for those prerequisites we have taken. And finally our HESI or TEASE score. For those of you that haven't taken the HESI or TEASE we can plan a study group either online or in person. I'm a in my final class required to apply (AP I), in another school. I will have 7 courses completed upon application so that gives me 29 points for that. I have not taken the HESI yet so I don't know my points for that yet. I haven't been able to figure out my final gpa yet because I'm in this last course. But I hope to get to know some of you and I hope one day we will even be in class together!

FYI: Wendy said classes start August 25th for those that need to let their jobs know ahead of time.

Keep trying babynurse

awesome about when classes start. I have my background check scheduled for Friday í ½í¸Ší ½í¸Š

From everything I've seen in previous semesters the program is 4 days a week. Now that they're changing the curriculum and what not I'm curious if it will be five. That would be awful! If anyone finds out please share!

Does anyone know if the program is 4 or 5 semesters long?

If you look in the college catalog it says it's 4 semesters long for full time :).

i am pretty sure it is still 4 days a week because when you "look up classes to add" on the portal you can see its 4 days a week for Charlotte at least.

Full time has always been 4. Part time was 5 because it included a summer. Again not sure if the curriculum change would affect that , but I doubt it.

To those that did not get in, did you receive an e-mail saying so? I still haven't heard anything :(

You should call. I had to call

I emailed Wendy and she said they are trying to make it only 3 days a week.

"Wednesday either AM or PM

Thursday all day

Clinical and/or Simulation either on a Mon, Tues or Friday.

The goal is three days a week."

NICE! That would be stellar!

Idk know if I like the idea of 3days. That would be less time to learn

I had asked someone a while back about her schedule and she said full time was only 9-12 three of the days, then a clinical day. I'm sure with 3 days you would just have longer days ( like the Thursday all day).

They will still be required to uphold curriculum requirements... I wouldn't worry about learning any less. I think it's a great idea and would leave more time to study! Or for people who are working and/or have families. SCF has a concept based curriculum ( what FSW is changing to) and is only 3 days a week for full time.
