Hi I wanted to start a thread for anyone that will be starting the program at the Charlotte campus. Also if anyone is already in the program there I'd love to hear all about it. I'm anxious to know how are schedules will go and what to expect!!

Hey! I'm in first semester at Charlotte. Congratulations on getting in!
I have Health Assessment and lab on Mon. Tuesdays I have clinicals from 6:30am-2:30pm. We did 4 weeks at Southport (only once a week) then we are assigned to 1 of the 3 hospitals. One group has clinicals on Friday, the other 2 groups have clinicals on Tues. When u get to the hospitals, u will end up going to hospital the day before to get your patient info. Wednesdays are the only days we can wear regular clothes because there's no labs afterward. Just Fundamentals lecture from 8:30-11:30. Thurs is Fundamentals lecture then practicum (just call it lab) after and you're day is 8:30-3.
On lab days you wear your polo top and khaki pants or u can wear your white scrubs. Clinicals u always wear your white scrubs. When u go to get your patient assignment u can wear polo/khakis but you're technically supposed to have your lab coat over it (I personally have not seen that enforced). You must have ID on for clinicals or u will be sent home (they will make this ID from your student pic). The Cherokee aren't see through with nude underwear. Wonder wink is see through. If you buy compression stockings they must be white. My cute colorful Crazy Compression Socks can't be worn. Guys have to wear a white t-shirt under and it can't be a v-neck.
At southport they were so nice. We had our own room with a fridge to put our food. There was a closet to hang coats and store book bags. They tell u not to bring a lot but sometimes u have downtime and want to work on stuff. At PG Bayfront the 3rd floor is small with a small break room. U still have room to bring a book bag and there's a fridge and microwave. The fridge is usually crowded though. U have a half hour for lunch during clinicals. For class and lab days u get a half hour lunch but they give u several 10-15 min breaks as well.

Thank you lilnurse2015 for sharing your experience in the program. I was accepted into the Spring 2016 program at Charlotte. I'm looking forward to starting soon! Congratulations to you too for making it in. It seems like you're happy with the program.
Thank you for all the info! I'm starting to buy all my things for school and clinicals. Are there any must haves or cool accessories that you enjoy. My niece was in the hospital and one of the nurses told me about the white coat clip board so I'm definitely getting one of those! Any helpful study materials that I should know about?
