FSCJ Summer 2014 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Florida

Hello, everyone!

Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.

Do you learn well on your own? I am taking a professor online and it is great you just read the chapters, do the homework, and take the chapter tests. No midterm or final or proctored tests to go to like it states in the class description. I can message you his name, I don't think we're supposed to post them on the website.

what teacher was it? lol i am about to take statistics :)

If you are taking Statistics, believe me when I say you want Meisel! He is at Downtown Campus, which I hate, but he was worth the headache. Not only does he present the material in a crystal-clear method, he will tell you directly, "Don't bother writing it down. It's not on the test. Do write this one down though because you'll see a VERY similar *wink wink* question on the test." He was also great because if he felt a formula was unnecessary, he would say, "Here's the formula. Don't write it down because you're never going to use that formula when you have a calculator anyway."

We never had take-home homework; it was all done in class. I actually enjoyed Statistics because of him. He's fantastic.

I took statistics but with another professor by the name of Jeffrey Daniels. He teaches at the Nassau campus. He is not a very good teacher. He gets flustered and acts as if he forgets how to do the problems. It was pretty hard because you really had to read the book and teach yourself. Thank goodness I made a "B". Now I am about to take MAC1105, I know it is a math below statistics but I didn't think I needed MAC1105 for my BS degree, well that is what my counselor told me. She was WRONG!!! Does anyone know of a good teacher for MAC1105?

I applied for the RN program yesterday. I am soooo nervous about getting in. I hear it is very hard to get in and that you have to apply multiple times. I make very goods grade, 3.7 gpa, but my NAT test score was low. I was so nervous while I was taking it and was over thinking the questions. I hope I get in but if I don't, I will apply next term. I believe they are doing away with the NAT and replacing it with the HESI. I bought both books to study from just in case. Not sure if I want to apply for a third time if I get rejected on the the third try. I am thinking of changing to cardiovascular tech. Does anyone know about this field?

It's not really hard to get in. It really depends on the grades that are on the required prerequisites plus your NAT score. Generally if you're above of 190 total points you're OK. In the 180's it can be kind of nerve wracking.

I decided not to take MAC1105, instead I am taking a Humanities class, World Religion. Going to take it easy this summer break until I am notified about the RN program. If I am rejected I will finish my prerequisites for my BS degree.:dead:

It is very nerve wracking!! It seems like I have been going to school forever, to get to the point of where I am at. Those timed tests are the worst. I wish we could just get in on our grades, not just one test. Do you know anything about Cardiovascular technician? If I don't get into nursing maybe I will apply for Cardio Tech.

Is anyone applying for the spring 2015 program?

In regards to the MAC1105 teacher, Watkins at Downtown Campus was quite good. Also, I had Miezel for Statistics and he was phenomenal. He also teaches MAC1105. I would highly recommend either.

I'm also applying then...did u hear that they are not doing the NAT anymore? I think they are doing HEIS

Yes, that is true..there did away with the NAT and the HESI is thr new entrance exam. They also dropped sociology as a prerequisite and replaced it with chemistry.

Yes which sucks because I'm in sociology this summer ugh! Waste of time and money. Well I'm applying at all the community colleges universities so may its still a prerequisite at one of those
