Hello everyone!
I haven't come across a thread for FSCJ Fall 2016 yet, so I wanted to make one. I know it's a little early, but I'm really excited! Who is planning on applying for this term? If anyone has gone through the process of the program already please give us advice.
Looking forward to talking with all of you and good luck!:)
So I'm thinking sometime around next week I will start the Facebook group for our semester since the application deadline will be over. I will post a link on here. I have no idea when our approximate graduation date is. Lol so idk what the c/o info is for us...wishing everyone the best of luck! The time is coming faster than I thought it would. :)
Your graduation would be December 2017.
@andielbc How in advance do you have to pay for your classes before you start the program? Do you have to pay the tuition at orientation? Could you possibly tell me around how much it will all be. I know you are starting in summer so just thought I would ask :) Also, I am so scared of getting accepted and having nothing ready. As soon as we get accepted do we already have to have all of our shots or do they give you a deadline to have them done by? So many questions sorry!!!!!

From what Connections is telling me, we have to pay a couple weeks before classes start, but I'm not 100% sure on this, I'll be double checking on it. You don't have to pay anything at orientation. However, I do advise that you take some cash, as the SNA will be on site selling some gently used uniforms for $5 each piece. (I managed to score a scrub top and a lab coat, all for $10. Yay!!) Plus they had a raffle going on to raise funds. Some folks got books, there was a skills kit up for grabs, and a yearly SNA membership.
The cost is showing at around $1,600 for the first semester. That does include your books, as they are electronic.
When you get accepted you'll get a packet with all your info, including deadlines for shots/titers/etc. DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE BEFORE HAND. They have to be dated after a certain date and before the deadline. This is very important. Your titers will not count if you get them months ahead "just in case." I'd gotten my physical a month before I found out if I was in the program and ended up getting a special exception. Again, DO NOT GET ANYTHING DONE BEFORE YOU GET IN THE PROGRAM. (Unless you need to for health reasons, but you know what I mean.)
I think that's all your questions. Feel free to ask more, I don't mind answering! :)
@andielbc thanks for all the info! All of our books are electronic? Do you know if it is possible to get them in hardcopy form? I'm horrible at learning from an electronic book.
I couple of weeks ago, I was on the same boat as you. I was pretty dead set on getting physical books. However, the Elsevier rep did a pretty good job of convincing me otherwise.
To answer your questions: Yes, all our books are electronic. We have two physical books, but that's it. While it is possible to get the paper copy, it will be an additional cost. The cost of the electronic books is included in our tuition. What they've done is taken the costs of the books (plus all the materials we get alongside them, like quizzes and such) and divided it out over the four semesters. That to me is a plus, as I won't have to be shelling out big bucks for my books. Plus, we get access to all our books at once, even the ones we won't be using right away. And we'll have access to them for life. Which is pretty awesome.
I'm not awake enough to go into the full details of how awesome the whole concept of electronic books for our courses are, but I will say this: I am so looking forward to it. Our first semester we're going to need around 7 books at any one given time. Imagine lugging around 7 books. Most of which are going to be pretty heavy. That alone is enough to convince me.
If I can be convinced of the advantages, I'm sure you can too. I've always hated electronic books for classes, but I really think this is the way to go for us. If you want more info, I can try to give more details when I'm more awake.
Hi everyone!
Obviously im not applying for Fall 16 rather prospectively spring 17 but I do not see an open thread created yet. I am finishing up with AP2 this month and will be taking micro this summer. I did not originally plan to apply to FSCJ however I am very interested in the night program. Does anyone know if the night program is more selective and if it only begins in certain semesters? Also, i am not very familiar with the points system for FSCJ. Does this vary from semester to semester or can someone please send me the packet aforementioned for FALL 2016 if it would be in general the same information for future applicants. Good luck to everyone! My email is [email protected] thank you:)
