FSCJ Fall 2015 Hopefuls

Published

I know it is a little early for this but I just didnt want to wait. I want to see where everyone stands on their classes and when they will be or have taken the HESI. I am enrolled in my last two prerequisites and I will be starting them in January which are my A&P2 and Micro. I am hoping to take the HESI either in February or March after I have had most of my classes finished.

I also received the packet from Cheryl and started calculating my points as I go. Ready to get this next semester finished and the HESI completed.

Could someone send me the new packet for fall 2015 please? :)

I'll send you one.

The one I have is a couple semesters old. I plan to go get a new one at north campus in the next few weeks.

Thank you so much for sending that!

I noticed that the packet North Campus emailed me only had odd pages to it...She said she's been sending out that one in error and hadn't caught it. I have the full version now if anyone needs it.

Hi, Shirley!

That info about Micro is not correct. If you want Micro to be included in your points then, yes, it would need to be completed for a grade prior to application to the program. However, per a telephone conversation and email exchange I had with Cheryl James, you CAN apply to the program without the completed Micro prereq, as long as it is fulfilled BEFORE you begin the program AND as long as it is the ONLY class you would be taking the semester preceding the start of Nursing school.

So, for example, the Fall 2015 application deadline is April 1st, with a program start date in August 2015, which means you can submit an application/transcript on April 1st that doesn't include Microbiology, take that course over the Summer, and still qualify.

Of course, foregoing Micro in favor of making the 4/1/15 app deadline means giving up the 24 points you have the potential to earn should you get an 'A' in the course, but a competitive score is definitely possible without it if you do well on the HESI.

Good luck taking Micro & A&P2 at the same time, Micro is BRUTAL! I just took the HESI-A2 and got the combined score of a 187.5. Anyone know the average acceptance score/points?

Thanks,

Brigitte

I beleive last semesters cut off was 179.something and it has seemed to average in the low 180's. Not sure how the new point scoring has affected that.

Hello everyone! I'm scheduled to take my hesi march 4th, I'm too nervous!! I have a 6 month old son so finding a balance between work , taking care of him and study if has been difficult for me. For those who have taken the hesi, how long did you study for?

If you have taken the NAT, you remember how much time you didn't have to complete each section...?! The HESI is waaaaay better! Some sections allow you up to 4hrs, so you are not rushed! Study up on math, that was my most difficult part. Know your bio, anatomy/physiology basics.. Reading comprehension is not hard at all. I took a whole week maybe 1-2 hrs a each day to prep for it then rocked it out!

Good luck!

Hello everyone!I decided to make an account since I'm always coming on here to find out info about FSCJ nursing program. I finally submitted my application today! It's crazy only 8 ppl have applied so far. I took HESI and made a 89.50%

96%-A&P

88%-biology

96%-math

78%-reading comprehension

it it wasn't bad at all.
