FSCJ Fall 2015 Hopefuls

Published

I know it is a little early for this but I just didnt want to wait. I want to see where everyone stands on their classes and when they will be or have taken the HESI. I am enrolled in my last two prerequisites and I will be starting them in January which are my A&P2 and Micro. I am hoping to take the HESI either in February or March after I have had most of my classes finished.

I also received the packet from Cheryl and started calculating my points as I go. Ready to get this next semester finished and the HESI completed.

[QUOT E=Shelbydimaria;8397829]so now the new deadline is april 1st? it used to be june 1st. Has anyone called to confirm?

Yes it is April 1st. The online catalog has this date as well and I was at the North campus Nursing dept. today which had it posted also.

@kristin729 thank you! gosh that is soo soon. and still 8 wks from that date?

They say 6-8 weeks but it looks like past terms have gotten letters about 5 weeks after deadline :) So I really hope it won't be 8 weeks!

Hi all. I have been lurking for a while. I am also applying for the Fall 2015 semester. I wanted to paste in the application deadlines from the FSCJ website. It seems to me that the deadline is June 1. I think applications are accepted starting April 1?

Application deadlines:

  • Fall Term deadline: April 1 - June 1
  • Spring Term deadline: August 1 - October 1
  • Summer Term deadline: December 1 - February 1

Hi Stephanie...I believe what you are seeing is for the catalog effective Aug. 2014- Aug. 2015. So the Fall wouldn't be included. This pic I attached is from the most updated application packet

Does anyone know how many people applied so far?

I looked at the main page today, and also saw that the due date is April 1.

Did/are you all walking in your applications? FSCJ has me listed as a non-Florida resident for some reason. Is that going to cause problems for me?

If I calculated properly, I think I have 192 points. Where are you'll sitting with points?

Good luck to everybody!

I was under the impression that you HAD to get a 75% or higher in each section when taking the HESI, I did math first and got a 92%, then biology ( i have not taken bio in 10 years). I failed the biology section miserably with a 58%, and then couldn't concentrate on the rest of the test because I thought my chances were out the door ( because of the whole 75% rule). Some one informed me a week ago that you don't need a 75 in each section, needless to say i'm so mad at myself now, i didn't try on the rest of the sections at all because I was in tears after taking the biology. I have 170 points, I don't even know if its worth applying.

When did you take the HESI? I was asked a few conversion questions (oz to ml) which I couldn't remember for the life of me and cost me a strong math score.

You aren't paying to apply and you don't know the pool of applicants. I would apply if I were in your shoes.

I applied for the ABSN program at UNF with non-competitive stats just because I would've regretted it otherwise.

I took the HESI 3 weeks ago, and I studied the conversions for 2 weeks so I did alright with that. Thats true.

I walked my app in, just for my own peace of mind. You may want to call to verify the residency issue to see if you should get it corrected prior to submitting your app if needed.

I sent in a residency petition. I just had my UNF transcripts sent in which also reflect that I've been there since 2012.

They're closed this week due to spring break so I mailed it a few days ago so that they'll have it by next week.
