Hello
I just graduated a few weeks ago. my SON will not send off our state paperwork until we take a review class and complete 3000 NCLEX questions. I am signed up for kaplan, becasue everyone recommended it. I however, really dont think that I need to be in a classroom for a review. I have always dont fine in nursing school studying on my own. I never joined any study groups, i did my own thing. I have always been a good test taker, I dont get anxiety ever when taking tests.
with all this said, I am a little frustrated becasue i have to take a review class. i feel this is slowing me down. i feel like I am at a stand still because kaplan doesnt start until Jan7. its over Jan22. I feel like this is too long and I wont be taking boards until march! I hope I will be able to get a test date in Feb, as I have a job lined up that I would like to start in Feb.
I am tempted to cancel Kaplan, and do an online reivew. either kaplan bank or NCSBN. the only reason i havent canceled kaplan is because my coworkers collected $100+ for me to take the class. i dont want them to feel like I stole the money or dont appreciate it.
I dont know what to do. i hate "waiting" I just want kaplan to come and go so i can take boards and start working!
any words of advice are welcomed. i feel kind of down. i know i shouldnt becasue i am blessed to have finished school, to have a job, and great coworkers who helped me out.
i guess i should just stick with kaplan right???? i am so annoyed with waiting.
thanks for letting me vent. please share your thoughts and advice

If you feel Kaplan is going to slow you down then I would say thanks but no thanks to the Kaplan course, and take the NCSBN course instead. The NCSBN course would be cheaper, but the amount of content is hard to swallow in three weeks. However, if you don't need content and just the Qbank, it is a good investment in your time. Be sure to buy the Priority Delegation and Assignment Book, and check out the infection control and medication section of the NCSBN review course.
rockcrawlerbabe- thank you for your post/ advice. one of my nursing school instructors also recommended a delegation book also! thanks again
Yeah, it definitely helped me to pass.
anyone else???
i have looked into the online review with kaplan. i think i would still get the benefit of kaplan, but at my own pace. i have always been a very independent learner. heck, i missed more nursing lectures than i can count. but i have always done well doing my own thing. i also have an infant and i think it will work out better for me doing the course online. boy, i sure hope that i am right.
