Frustrated & Depressed!!!!

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

I am so mad & freakin frustrated right now I could scream:madface::banghead::angryfire:madface:!!!! I went to my CC LVN orientation yesterday and I & many other students were informed that the LVN Program at my CC was going to for sure accept 45 students but a clinical site told the Health Sciences department that now they cannot accept the nursing students from my CC and so now the Dean of the Health Sciences department said for sure 30 will be accepted but she is going to keep trying to find clinical space for 15 more & I am #44:banghead:!!!! This is due to all those **@@@:banghead::madface::angryfire!!!! Private vocational schools out here taking up all those clinical spaces!!!! It's not fair now I will probably have to wait another year to start becuase I cannot afford the $20,000 they want or get a loan that huge!!!! I want to start so bad I could cry right now!!!! Anyone else tired of waiting to start I could use some cheering up I am so depressed right now:cry::scrying::urgycld:!!!! Plus my back up plan is gone because I was going to enroll in CNA classes at my CC if I do not get in but now they cancelled them for the summer session & they hope to get the CNA classes back in intersession 2009:cry::cry::cry: & of course that will have a wait list if I cannot register fast enough!!!!

Wanted to add-my instructor (head of LPN nursing at my school) has been there a number of years. She's the one who told the class about the new school, and the info was provided directly because she's noticing difficulty at getting clinical sites lately because of the competition with other schools. Now, this is my area. There's Brown-Mackie, PSI, and now the new one (can't remember name). All with a lot of students (they accept many, as I said), so at least their first-semester is teaming with students needing clinical sites. We're at 28 students, as always. Lately, struggle with sites, and now some of us aren't even sure where our summer sites are, as my instructor is still working on that (new phenomenon for her, it seems).

Hey, but this is America, and schools are free to pop up and do what they want, as long as there are students willing to pay. Not blaming them, but to say they don't affect the clinical spots available isn't in line with fact/statistics.

I know it can be so frustrating, I realize that schools have the right to pop up anywhere but it is really a big bummer for those who wait & wait to get into an LPN/LVN Program at a Community College and that is frustrating the Dean at my CC because get this the day before my LVN orientation at my CC the clinical site called the Dean of the Health Sciences department at my CC and said they could not accept any of the students from my CC so I was in up into that point:crying2::banghead:!!!! i really, really, really do not want to wait another year I will cry if I do not get in but unfortunately it looks like that is what's going to happen. I will just take PSY101 this summer and sign up in October for the CNA Program at my CC--they are hoping to have that Program back in the 2009 intersession--wish me luck:cheers:!!!! So sorry about the long post just wanted to vent a little, thanks!!! One more thing though--sorry they mail out acceptance letters on May 29th & my Birthday is May 31st I hope I get one or my Birthday will stink:balloons::clpty::hpbday::WHCk:!!!! Are you in nursing school yet? I wish you the best!!!!

missy-You sound so driven. What's one year when talking about MANY years of a wonderful nursing career?? I know that it's tough to hear when you're the one waiting, but truly, look at the number of years MDs must wait before they can practice...I just look around and see what other people go through, then count MY blessings. Please don't be unhappy-no matter what!-on your birthday or any other day! Keep up with your energy to be a good nurse-you'll get there-and consider this time part of YOUR process, your story toward becoming a nurse! Even though you're not actually taking nursing courses at the moment, you're still on your nursing career path!
