Frontier Nursing University FNP Class 139

Published

Hi, Is there anyone out there who has applied to the FNP program for Frontier Bound in June? Looking for potential classmates and support while waiting to see if we're accepted. Good luck everyone!

Hopefully you will be able to check phone periodically throughout day? Thinking positive here too...

Oh my goodness girls!! I am sorry about this waiting thing again!!! I hope all good news!!! Good luck!!! Hang in there! Is there another number you could call? I would be going CRAZY!!!!!!

I'll PM you and let you know what happened when I get home tonight.

Anyone hear about 142? I am still waiting to hear one way or the other and they said that I would get an email last week...nothing still! This is getting frustrating!!!

I know that some of the people that applied for that class did get notified last week. They posted it on the Frontier Nursing University Hopefuls Facebook page.

I've been put on the wait list. I've seen that those that were accepted have until July 21st to respond yes or no. Maybe for your peace of mind, you should call just to make sure they have your contact information correct.

Thanks! I just checked junk mail and nothing there...sent another email to ask and asked to join the Facebook "hopefuls" page:) maybe it will keep me from going totally crazy waiting!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all got accepted at Frontier.

I'm considering applying for the RN-FNP program, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about the work load. Are you guys working? how many hours a week? How much time would you say you dedicate to studying + clinicals?

Thanks in advance!

We are well into our 3rd semester now. Some are working full-time and taking classes full-time. I don't know how they do it. I am currently not working and taking part-time classes. I have lots of extra time on my hands. Come and join us on the Hopefuls Facebook group and you can talk to many more classes other than just this one. https://m.facebook.com/groups/818864878159974?ref=bookmarks

I know this is an old thread but was hoping to get some honest feedback from FNP students going on their 2nd year at Frontier. I have been very wishy washy about entering FNP program for a few years. For several reasons, still have about 18K in student loan (down from 50K), lack of future opportunities locally for a nurse interested in advanced practice nursing with bioidentical HRT/ functional medicine/integrative medicine and women.

I was enrolled in an online Adult NP program a few years back and withdrew after 3 semesters. I felt like I was basically teaching myself and regurgitating what the instructors wanted - no real chance to discuss alternative perspective and lots of busy work that was not adding to my learning. Two examples, having to come up with lengthy responses to classmates online responses when there might not be much to respond to and 2) completing a nursing portfolio that was like being back in a BSN program. I did not finish this program so did not have to finish the portfolio but other students told me about it --This was not just collating papers over your time in the program - you had to write a 30 plus page paper talking about what you have learned and how you think you be ready to be an NP and incorporating the papers you wrote during your time of study-- .

Frontier is one of the few affordable programs that i have looked at that gets me excited to go back to school. The passion and excitement I have read from graduates (and also a friend completed her FNP here) seems very genuine. I have the opportunity to do the Frontier FNP program and take out about a 15,000 loan (do able for me) versus a fully paid Adult NP that my workplace pays for but it is LOTS OF BUSY WORK and progressive thinking not encouraged. Which honestly, I just don't think I can even do it even if they paid me (well I guess they are).

Most everyone who graduates from the local program is unhappy with the program.

What has been your experience with the online portion and homework at Frontier? And the instructors being current on subject matters? Do you find the projects are helping you learn to be a better FNP and developing your critical thinking skills or do you find a lot of the work "busy work"?

How is the program treating you so far? I am applying to the bridge program and am very excited and nervous.

Would love to hear about your experience so far

I'm curious what Frontier would be like for a guy interested in the FNP program, but with minimal interest in the women's studies side of things. Any input?
