Front Range Community College - Fort Collins

My advice is two things: first, post this in the Colorado forum for maximum feedback, not here. Second, Colorado is HIGHLY competitive, and I would not recommend anyone do any other nursing program than a straight BSN program. If you do an RN-BSN program, I don't believe you will qualify for any of the new grad positions at hospitals.

Third, did I mention Colorado is HIGHLY competitive for new grads? Maybe look into some other healthcare career besides RN. I don't recommend anyone go to nursing school, but particularly in Colorado.

I received my ADN from FRCC in Ft Collins 9 years ago. I agree with Klone's post. Things might change in a couple years but now is not a good time to be attending nursing school.

Yeah, I had the option of going straight into an ADN program, and opted for the LPN program to save money, at Concorde. I don't have a lot of regrets, but this is by far the biggest one. It is difficult, and will cost more money in the long run, especially since I am looking at having to retake all of my science classes and want to go a traditional route, rather than going back to Concorde.

Sorry, them's the facts. I think there are maybe 8? schools in the Denver area alone churning out new grads. For every new grad position, there are about 50 applicants. All over the country, new grads are unemployed for 6-9 months before finding a position (and this is BSN, ADN is even tougher) and Denver is no different. As much as I would not recommend anyone try to break into nursing at this time, that goes double for ADN programs. Like someone else said, this might change in a few years, but that's the reality of nursing right now. Read the forums here. There is no nursing shortage, certainly not in Colorado.

Hi, I recently got accepted into the Fort Collins program and start next month. I would agree this field is highly competitive, but not impossible to get a job. It definitely depends on how hard you work and it helps to know a few people that may help you with connections, a friend of mine graduated in Dec and started working by March. With that said, Front Range does have a dual enrollment program where you take online classes through CU in Colorado Springs for a BSN, after your first semester of nursing school. So, it is possible to get your BSN while you are working on your ADN.

A friend of mine who graduated 3 years ago from FRCC said a lot of her classmates left the state to find acute care jobs. She found employment with a hospice in Denver. I would suggest keeping your options wide open. There are a lot of SNFs in Fort Collins and surrounding communities but they are not the best place to start your career, if you can help it.

Hi, I just applied to the Front Range nursing program and became a little discouraged with my score for their point system. Can you tell me what your number was for the points on your application. I have one "C" in my pre-reqs and it tanked my score.... Do you happen to know the average score of those who were accepted?
