Dianah I would suspect pruning the tomato plants might encourage more tomatoes

Stars that is exciting that the dog will be arriving soon

NJ22 hope you sleep better tonight and the rain holds off

Work was better yesterday,  even had some time to help others.  Hopefully today will be the same

Day was fairly ordinary otherwise.  Had counseling over lunch, which was helpful.  Exercised in the evening, and did some research on my plan to buy a new used car. Was pleased to see prices had come down since I last checked,  will make things easier.  Planning to talk to the credit union at some point soon

Tonight should be quiet after work too, which is good as the weekend will be busy

Will be a bit warmer today, up to about 80, looks like the rain has finally stopped

Happy Friday!

I'm feeling a little swamped at work and might make some time to go to the office over the weekend just to get a bit better organized. Not that there isn't plenty to do at home. There is. My book club is meeting tomorrow night and it's a potluck, so I think I'm going to try a German potato salad. There's also a dinner at the church on Sunday, and the church's bazaar is tomorrow. They're serving white chili for lunch so I might try to get the family to go. They'll probably want me to just go bring home meals for all of them. Hmmm..... if they're selling baked goods at the bazaar, I might just pick something up there to take to the book club potluck.

The Honda we donated to Habitat for Humanity hasn't been picked up yet... maybe today, maybe Monday. It will be good to have one fewer undrivable cars around. "My" car is back from the repair shop. When I picked it up and drove it yesterday, I heard strange gurgling sounds behind the steering wheel and noticed that the temp gauge was creeping up. They forgot to clamp a couple of hoses in place...? Hubs fixed it. Last time they worked on it they forgot to put the air filter cover back on. They do good work at a fair price but it seems they've been a little careless lately. It's also overdue for some warranty work on the headrests that are supposed to do something in a crash to help prevent injury. We took it in once for that and the dealer didn't have the required parts at the time.

My mood has been a little down this week. Can't put a finger on why, other than the big expenses. Had my performance review for work and it was good.

Hi. I was having a pretty good day until about an hour ago. I went for a lovely ride, put the sheets in the washer, unloaded/reloaded dishwasher. While I had the dishwasher open I banged my ankle on corner of the door. That smarted, but it didn't break the skin so I didn't think much of it. Until I got up from lunch (a delicious meatloaf sandwich) and felt a sharp pain in my ankle. Which is now swollen and exquisitely tender to the touch. Walking is painful. I am afraid I may have broken it, but it's not displaced, so do I get it looked at? Or tough it out? And the dog breeder has called and said we could get our new dogs this weekend. Ack! I still have fence to reinforce!

Joe, a smooth day at work sounds like the perfect Friday. What kind of car are you looking to get? I usually go through my credit union. It's convenient to get pre-approved and avoid some of the pressure from a seller.

Annie, that sucks to have to work on your day off. I definitely vote for a purchasing baked goods for your book club, and kill 2 birds with one stone.

Weather is still clear, in the mid 50s. Forecast if for an atmospheric river to come on Sunday. We really need to rain to recharge the reservoirs .

"exquisitely tender to the touch" and "painful to walk on" suggest to me that's worth getting it checked out. Could be a long weekend (especially with new dogs coming) if you're in unrelieved pain and unable to walk without pain.

The latest weather forecast I've seen shows storms on Saturday and maybe on Sunday, with clear skies and highs in the upper 80s the rest of the week. I think the bookclub get-together is supposed to be in the hostess's "biergarten" -- we'll be protected from the rain if need be.

Hello all!

nursej22, I agree, best to get the ankle checked out.  Might be a small fracture.  At least, you can rule that out.  You know what to do (RICE = rest, ice, compression, elevation).  Hope it feels better soon.

Ado, enjoy your book club meeting!  What book are you reading?

Joe, hope you can find a car you like and can afford.

Dh had his last post-op eye appointment yesterday, I went with him.  All is looking good (no pun intended!), except the left eye is being slower to heal.  MD said it was still edematous, which is why he "feels like there's a log there, scraping on the eyelid."  He is done with the antibiotic drops, and still continues the prednisolone drops for at least 3 more weeks.  We did another errand after the eye appointment, then picked up some food for the next couple days.

Oh, and I got my flu shot while I was in the building with dh.  Arm is sore today, and my neck and trapezius muscles are stiff.  This too shall pass.  I will get the Covid update when it is available, which they projected as late October.

Did my one-hour walk yesterday with friend S.  The weather was beautiful (read: NOT TOO HOT!!), and we had a nice natter.  Dh and I ate when I got home, and then I did two loads of laundry and took my shower.  Slept OK, but was awake from about 3-5, who knows why??

No Stars, I am so excited for you to get your dog!  You too, Ado!!  I know how we love our fur-babies.  Our tuxedo cat, Suzy, has been very personable today, which is unusual for her.  She is somewhat of a loner, will hiss and growl if the other cats (her mom and siblings!) get too close.  But today she came up and asked to be petted, and has stayed close to dh while we watched a movie.  She is asleep on the couch next to dh now.  They are funny little creatures (edited to clarify: both cats and husbands are funny little creatures, LOL!).

Abita, the gray tabby (sister to Suzy), always walks on me sometime during the night, asking to be petted.  And she LOVES to stretch out on one's legs.  She is truly a lap cat.

Not much else to report here.  Have a good evening!

Re-update: Rather than driving all evening and getting here close to midnight, my friend's nieces will start early in the AM, and expect to be here with my new-used dog, mid-day sometime.... like 1 PM? I can hardly contain myself!
