Good afternoon~
I told hubby this morning that my friend left me a message last night and told me not to feel obliged to take the dog if it was going to cause so much trouble at home. Hubby said, "I won't cause any trouble." But I can't help dreading the days between supper and bedtime because that's when he gets irritated and ugly about almost anything. Every day I think, well, I'll tell them not to bring the dog, and then I think, no, I'm going to get the dog because I need her and she needs me.
Tweety, Hubby won't get bigger bottles of vodka because he can't carry a big bottle in his pocket, and he can't 'sneak' a drink whenever he wants to. (too often for me!) But the fact is that the little bottles don't always stay in his pocket when he sits in the recliner. He now keeps them in the fridge, since he has realized Nannie doesn't go upstairs to the kitchen and won't see them. I can't believe she doesn't know he is a drunk.....all day, every day. He is no kind of companion, I'll tell you that!
tmb, I doubt he would use a urinal. For one thing, his hands are so clumsy, he'd be sure to 'miss it' or spill it. If there was room I'd get him a bedside commode, and I may end up doing that when all is said and done. He always says, "I'm okay." No, he isn't. I tell him he has no sense of his body and it seems like the more he drinks the more he wants to get up and move around, up and down the stairs. "I won't fall." says the man with a lengthy history of falls. At least there have been fewer falls and he hasn't shredded the skin on his arms lately, nor has he fallen on his face and wrecked his glasses again.
I said I wish there was something I could do to make him feel better. His reply was, "I will, one day." I almost said, yeah, when you are dead? But I didn't. I said "You need to go see a doctor or two; you need a colonoscopy and an endoscopy to find out if there is something besides the vodka that is making your stomach give you so much trouble." He, of course, said, "I know. I will." But he makes no moves to make any calls or any appointments, and he knows we can't afford the $$$ involved in long rehab stints. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars and have him start drinking again after rehab, as happens with so many folks. I was reading about a guy who has been through rehab SEVEN TIMES! Uh-uh, it ain't happening here. I know I would hate wasting any money on something he isn't prepared to get extremely serious and intent on doing.
Well anyway. Life goes on.
My left knee is having sharp pains again. The doc took an xray last week and didn't say anything about it needing surgery. But I wonder, if something did take me away from home for a while, what the hell would either hubby or Nannie do? And what would happen with the dog if I did have to go have surgery or something?
My brain is tangled and bruised! But, I STILL want that old dog to be MY dog, and I do NOT want a puppy!
I don't know if I mentioned getting a disposable camera so I can take photos of her (whose name will not be Momo, but will be "Mojo" as she will be my 'talisman') Anyway, what I figure out I will do is take pics of her, and then send one of them to dianah so she can post it here for me (news for you, huh, dianah?!) Because I can't figure out the 'how to' to put a pic on here.
Welp it is 2:30 now and I guess I will go out to get Nannie more yogurts and cranapple juice.
Safe travels to Joe!
We watched the Barbie movie. Not very subtle but fun to watch.
Hubs and Gma had a spat but she is calmer now. She gets absolutely defiant sometimes.
The book for book club is ready to check out, quite a bit sooner than predicted. Hope to finish what I'm reading and get it started this weekend.
I called my friend who is in Fla. wif my doggie. Still don't know when she will be brought up here. my friend said she had gotten me about two months worth of food, and a special furry 15" round bed "that she loves and it just fits her." ...and will trade back the three pink fleece sweaters (she didn't know I was not fond of pinks for the most part, because my older sister always got the blue things I'd rather have had., dammit!)) Anyway, she bought 3 various blue sweaters instead, so whenever they or the nieces bring the dog, we can trade them. I don't know if I'd ever make her wear the yellow duckies doggy pajamas.....yellow ducks printed all over it. ...they have four leg holes/sleeves and space in the center for business to be taken care of, and they are pretty funny looking. If I can gain her cooperation I'll get a few photos in that outfit.
Oh! My car only had a bad-dead battery; I got a new one from them and they installed it and I am motor-vating again! WHEW!

G'day.
Safe travels to Joe.
Looking forward to hearing about new canine family members soon!
Not much going on today. I'm heading to a museum exhibit and maybe some ice cream.
Happy Friday!
