Yup, it is definitely a scam. This morning hubby got another call from that guy. He asked if we got anything on line, and I did, but it is so HINKY! The PCH logo is wrong. The subject line says "Second Place Winner". and there is no message other than it says "Publisher's Clearing" and that's all.
So why did they call him again instead of me? The guy was supposed to call me back, but called hubby again. So hubby says to him, "In what form are we supposed to send you the (?) $1,250.00, for taxes?" He told hubby he would call back in about 15 minutes and give him the name of a bank to which it should be sent.
I told hubby that if he calls HIM back instead of me, to tell him that my answer is "NO DICE! If they can't follow the protocol they have had for YEARS about notifying a winner, they can just shuffle off to Buffalo." (But I doubt hubby would say it exactly that way!)
Got to go dry my hair; will come back by here later-----
Hi. Overcast, smoky day, again. I finally took a pain pill last night and slept with an ice pack on my chest on the burn. My tummy was upset too, but today I feel much better. I am going to go down to the pharmacy and look for some aloe vera gel to put on the burn tonight to make sleep easier. I think I'll get omeprazole and take a course of that. I've been waking up with heartburn at night, a lot.
I went for a nice bike ride, and came home and cleaned up the kitchen. dh has been cooking the last few nights doesn't "clean as you go" the way I do. Oh, well, at least he cooks, a little. Today he is off to buy a new bbq/smoker thing. I predict he will use it as much as our current grill: to do the turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and once during the Summer. The Mariners are in the playoffs, so I am half watching that this afternoon.
Stars, those scammers are awful. You should never have to pay a fee to collect winnings. I coworker was telling me people call her grandma, say they are her grandson and say they are in trouble and need money. I've got a few good names for those kinds, that would definitely violate the terms of service.
Congrats, Tweety on your raise, and being able to schedule a contractor.
Safe travels on your trip, Joe.
What a nice surprise, Dianah.
Hi Annie!
Good morning!
I never answer the phone so any scammers get voice mail. I do get a fair amount of them.
J22, hope you feel better tonight.
Work was steady busy with discharges and admissions but I was able to leave relatively on time. I got a nice compliment from a urologist saying "they are lucky to have you", he's seen me around for years, but kind of out of the blue and not sure what I did other than notice his patient was retaining urine. But between that good review and raise and this I'm feeling a little better because as you know my job drains me. Like I said sometimes I feel I've waisted my life.
I checked into my flight for tomorrow and let's hope it goes well. A very short flight and then I rent a car to drive the hour and a half to the hotel I'm staying at. I'm not checking a bag and not packed yet. But have the dogs stuff ready to go to their sitter my brother in law. I'll have my phone and will check in some time to time.
Hello all!
I had a nice phone chat this morning with my long-time friend who lives in the South. It was good to catch up!
It has been a fairly uncomfortable day, both shoulders and neck with aches and pains. I just took some Ibuprofen. Hopefully will sleep well tonight, and tomorrow will be better, as I only anticipate 24 hr or side effects from the boosters.
nursej22, were the patches used for your cardioversion? We always used them, and I have never seen or had anyone report any problems at the site afterwards. So sorry you are uncomfortable.
Hope Joe has safe travels and a good visit!
No Stars, good you are on your toes to detect the scammers! Their efforts are SO irritating!
Tweety, hope your flight is smooth and that you have a good visit. I'm sure they will be happy to see you.
Have a good evening!
That supposed PCH employee kept calling and calling and calling; I hung up on him repeatedly; finally answered and told him NOT to call me back. He is MAD at me, I guess because I am not getting suckered in. He calls my husband next. Hubby plays him along, enjoying himself at scamming the scammer. Of course he was drinking. I kept making a cut motion with my hand, telling him to cut it out and hang up. Later, the supposed supervisor of this guy called hubby again. She says she is going to surprise me tomorrow with something I'll like, via FED-EX. REALLY???? With what? She is supposed to call tomorrow, again. I tell you, I am so irritated by this, and I am OVER it. I did contact PCH's scam reporting site and filled it out, and they send it to the authorities. If that woman calls tomorrow and makes more promises, I reckon I'll be sending in a second scam report.
I'm tired. I'll engage wif you'n's prolly tomorrow and tell you "The Further Stories Of:" -----------------------------------------------bzzzt! outta here!
As the afternoon progressed, hubby drank even more and became tiresome as well.
Yes, Dianah, they did use the patches, both times. I told them yesterday that I had received burns the first time, and they tried to prevent by ? using a towel to assure good contact, but I still have burns. The nurse even pointed out that I had been burned and said that I must have sensitive skin. She did give me an ice pack. I had asked pre procedure about burns, but they said it was up to me what I wanted to bring to treat them with. I plan to bring it up with the doctor, and hope this is the last time. They also placed the pads right next to my pacer, which I know isn't optimal, but it still works.

NJ22 hope you sleep better tonight, and hope the cardioversion works
Stars that would make me quite suspicious too
Tweety glad you got a date for the remodel and the merit raise
Dianah that was a nice surprise meeting
Overall work went well yesterday, and stomach and anxiety both settled down. Will need to be more careful about what I eat for a while. And learn to manage anxiety better. I focus too much on avoiding it, need to focus equally on dealing with it when it happens
Yesterday was quiet after work too, just a few errands and exercise. Talked to J who is still dealing with allergies although he is somewhat better
Plan to leave around noon, should have time to do a little bird watching beforehand. Have a little packing to complete but I'm mostly done.
Will be cooler the next two days or so, in the mid 50s here, closer to 60 by my aunt. Might get some rain but I hope it hold off
