Dianah this episode was "Spock's Brain" from the original series

NJ22 hope you get that appointment date soon

Stars that was nice of your DH

Ado I hope your BIL recovers quickly

Tweety glad you had a good ratio

Work was a bit busier than expected, but by the afternoon I had time to help others and do some of Friday's work too.  Hoping today will be easier, but we have  someone on  our team off

After work did the grocery shopping and then bought some more yarn for knitting

Then a 2 hour long vestry meeting.  Apart from the usual business we had to discuss next year's budget, which will have a record 90K deficit, and suggestions from some in the congregation that we not build a new home for the minister but buy an existing one instead, as a more economical option.  Was a long discussion  as these are really two issues...legally the most of the money we are using for  the new home cannot be used for the budget.  We're going to have a special meeting on the budget next month and some on the vestry are going to research the option  of buying an existing home, although we doubt it will save much money

Might meet J tonight for dinner, he wasn't feeling well last night so we'll see how he is today

Quite a bit warmer today, in the mid 70s

It's raining! The air quality has been upgraded to good! It has also cooled off to 48 degrees. I went for a bike ride, but cut it short because I was getting wet and cold. I'm cleaning bathrooms today, and trying to declutter. dh brought home a lot of "treasures" when he cleaned out his office. And as sort of a gag gift, I guess, his coworkers gifted him with several garden gnomes. I will try to get my flu shot today, I am waiting for the high-dose to come in. And Hopefully, the pharmacy will get dh's insulin in today. For some reason, it has been on back order. When I told the pharmacist this morning that dh had been out for 2 days, he got a little excited, and is going to try to find some locally and will call me. dh tried to get it before our trip, but the pharmacy was waiting for the new script, and somehow, it wasn't ordered.

Tweety, my eldest ds had jaw surgery when he was 20 something. They banded it shut and I remember him swallowing a lot after surgery, and then vomiting up blood clots through his teeth. He had a terrible time getting enough nutrition and got sick of liquid food. He is a Type 1 DM, and it was tricky finding good liquid nutrition that wasn't all simple carbs. And he hates Glucerna, especially after that.

Annie, I hope your BIL is recovering. Your niece has a lot on her plate.

I watched a chubby squirrel sitting on our deck rail 2 weeks ago. I would get she was nursing a litter, from her prominent mammary glands.  She was propped on her side, eating the seeds from a sunflower bloom.

NoStars, your dh is certainly fixated on dinners. Maybe, it makes him feel like he has fulfilled his responsibilities.

Goodish Afternoon~

I went to pick up my glasses. I am happy to be able to see clearly now. I have to get the lenses darkened a little more. I had asked for a 3/4 lens instead of the thumbprint you usually see on trifocals, but I've got the thumbprint. I will see how it works over the weekend while I am reading. They aren't terribly fashionable frames, they are a little larger than my previous ones. I look in the mirror and say "meh." Maybe it will look a tad better when I get my hair and bangs trimmed. (our hairdresser is back in business.) But, truthfully, I have given up on looking 'good' ; fortunately my hair always looks good (it does!)and is easy-peasy to deal with. If you give my hair the right cut, which means letting my hair hang down like it wants to do, all I have to do is comb it in the morning and forget about it.

So, Nannie just finished her lunch as of 3 PM. Now she is napping, as is hubby, in his recliner with his 02 on. I can hardly wait (yuh) until he starts thinking about supper at maybe 4 or 4:30 PM. Gee it's nice to have something to look forward to.(Oh, ?yes it is, she said, with a touch of sarcasm.?)

Six and a half days until hubby's appt w/ the PCP. I HOPE it is with his usual doc and not one of the others.  Hubby c/o not being able to sleep well, and here he is napping again. I have tried to remind him to NOT nap, but when I do, he says he is not napping. I guess it's the snores that fool me into thinking he is. His problem, aside from the vodka, is that he is bored to tears; he has no friends here. The neighbors are friendly but he is about 30 years older than them, so they are not the 'hanging out with' kind of friends. I can't say as I have any friends here, either, but at least I have you guys!

Oh, speaking of glasses, when I said something about how the parking lot at the eyeglasses office was totally empty (no docs work on Fridays) my husband suddenly sat up and said, "Look at me." (so he could see my new glasses) and his response to looking at them was, "Do you like them?" (ie, no compliment) I said, "Well, I can see better." Then he flopped back in his recliner and closed his eyes again. Yeh, thanks.

It is horrible with no Braves playing baseball

The sun is shining and Nannie wants to know if we are going to have rain. I said that the weather person said no rain for the next 4-5 days. Hubby piped up, saying, "Why do you care if it rains or not? You aren't going anywhere, and you never walk outside any more. Can't you see how sunny it is? You're sitting right next to the window, you should know whether it is raining or not." (Kind of irritable!)

Where's my Magic Wand??!! (Out in the shed somewhere.) I NEED A MIRACLE!

Oh well.

Hey, all!

Joe, a 2-hour meeting is never fun. Our church back in Indiana went through the buy/build question several years ago and did end up building a new parsonage.

Tweety, the bathroom looks great! That's a neat sink.

J22, hope you got that insulin.

Stars, the point of glasses is being able to see. I suppose you could tell him, "Well, I really liked another frame, but it cost 3x as much".

I think I need a new dress for the VIP open house at the new hospital. I don't really like to wear dresses anymore (ugh, pantyhose and heels and all that). I did wear dresses most days to the office for YEARS. And so many of the clothes that I see in the stores are just not attractive, to my mind. And since I'm heavier than I've ever been, I never think they look good on me, either. But I live in hope, so I'm going to look!

The last dress I wore was a 3-season, light-weight knit dress, the color of vanilla ice cream, which I purchased for -- $28? -- at JC Penney. I got it as my wedding dress. I wore it one other time, to a party for my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary. Then at a time when I was really furious with hubby (and this was even before he had begun drinking!) I took the scissors to it and shredded that sucker like you wouldn't believe. Most satisfying. I don't think hubby even knows about that to this day. (Let's not bring it up!)

I have switched back over to my old glasses and put the new one in the case they gave me. The thumbprint-type trifocal drives me nuts because where I had visual accuity with the 3/4 lenses, now I have to turn my head to avoid having the vertical line in my line of vision when I read. I'll see if I can get the lenses replaced, and maybe even trade the frames back in for something not as square and ones that don't rest on my cheek! Just tried to 'splain that to hubby, but he doesn't get it. Oh well.

Later!
