Joe, a pina colada sounds good. I had a margarita at the putt-putt bar the other night and savored it. Oh, and something similar to a margarita that included habanero pepper the night before at the restaurant. The restaurant served us family-style and one of the salads was tasty, the other one was a kale caesar salad that had anchovies on it. Strong pass. The meat options were chicken, salmon, and "hanger steak" which I learned was a cow's diaphragm. I tried it, it actually was OK (highly seasoned) but hard to get over the thought of what it was.
Tweety, I don't think I've ever had dandelion greens. I expect that I'd like them OK, done right.
Hope all is well with the rest of you.
Stepdaughter sent a video of daughter-in-law up walking with a walker, a boot on one foot (fracture). I'm so glad to see her progress. When I heard "brain bleed and skull fracture and liver laceration" I was preparing for the worst. She has not required any surgery. She is having trouble with hearing, not sure if that will be permanent. Stepdaughter has been a little evasive about her cognitive status and I'm not about to push.
We have named the kitten Ilsa. Twin B took her for a vet check-up and she's apparently healthy, just over 1 lb., about 5-6 weeks old, and does have a small burn on her lip (probably from the exhaust pipe of the car she was hiding in).
My CPAP arrived yesterday. Since I got home late from band rehearsal, I did not try to set it all up last night.
Starting my day with the usual "enthusiasm". Have to find out which of the auto- deposit bills have been paid, which ones I have to pay now, and then go deposit a check in the bank. Have my hearing aid follow-up appt at 3 PM and then I pick up Nannie at 4:45 PM. The trash was put out last night for pick-up today. I do have dishes to wash, and some of my own laundry to do. I think this day will be pretty much composed of more of 'the same old same old', hence my enthusiasm.
Hello all!
I got to my MD appointment a tad late but not too bad. All is well there, no surprises and no changes. I got my flu vaccine, and am considering whether I want to get the newest Shingles vaccine in the near future. I will go in next week to have routine fasting labs drawn.
After the appt I drove over to Sprouts and got some Hero low-carb bread and bagels. It's sure not as tasty as Dave's Seeded bread or Orowheat 12-grain, but it's still bread that I can have, and that gives it points, in my book. Then I did some grocery shopping -- and of course, I forgot something! So I will go in the next couple days and get what I forgot this time. It's always something...
I hope I don't have much of a reaction to the flu vaccine, besides the usual arm soreness. We'll see. We don't have anything planned for the weekend, other than a Zoom call with the boys, so I can rest if I'm not feeling well.
Have a good evening!
G'day!
There's a Sprouts going up down the street from me. Looking forward to seeing what they have.
Work was decent. We are still busy. My Assistant Manager's last day was today. She's transferring to a brand new hospital being built in the county north of here.
I made a huge mistake thinking I was talking to Spectrum internet and let myself get scammed. Long story short I have a new debit card coming and am disputing two fraudulent charges which really were only for $3 each. But apparently that's what they do start low and go for more. I changed the passwords on my bank account, deleted and reinstalled the app with a new password and am hoping there won't be any repercussions. I'm so upset with myself in that I'm usually smarter and can catch a scam but I swear I dialed Spectrum.
Bleh...
Ilsa has somewhat swirly/circular markings on her sides like some tabbies do. She just had a good nap and is feeling playful.
Good to have no surprises at the doctor visit. There is a Sprouts in Norman but I've only been there a couple of times. I like the Dave's Killer bread and Orowheat's oat nut bread. Are they too high in carbs?
I had little if any reaction to the flu shot this time. Thinking of getting this season's covid vaccine.
Tweety, Hubs almost fell for a scam several months ago. It's awful that even people who are alert and cautious can get pulled in.
Daughter-in-law is doing so well she has apparently been moved to a med/surg floor and stepdaughter is learning how the staff:patient ratios vary between ICU, step-down, and med/surg. And she's not happy. Plus I guess they're being more cautious about fall risk and made her use a bedside commode.
I'll tell you what I hate.....it is a site that says "just watch this short video all the way to the end." The videos are NEVER "short" and they are so repetitive you'd think they think they are talking to a moron! And, of course they are all doctors who have an easy, quick, 'at-home' thing you can do......BUT there is always some ingredient that is rare and only found in the far-away mountains in Timbucktoo; and there is nothing else like it available anywhere but through them, and they are willing to sell you a large amount of these products for a 'special price', which you should order post haste because they might run out and have a hard time re-stocking the product.......and do it NOW because Big Pharma may be removing their video soon, and you really don't want to miss out because of the miraculous miracle only they can provide.
Yes, you can tell I've actually watched some of those videos 'all the way to the end' , and my gawd I want to strangle those helpful, generous, only-looking-out-for-your-best-interests Professional Hawkers who proceed (every one of them) with a script, just like the TV evangelists who have a pattern to their sermons where they get so solemn and cry and then laugh with joy.
BARF!

Stars glad to hear that the will and POA will be changed
Hi NJ22
Dianah hopefully that fixes the dryer
Work was busier than expected yesterday, got a new case and a bunch of documents to review. But it never got really crazy and by the end of the day things had calmed down a lot
After work went to the happy hour with the gay group. Was fairly noisy and crowded due to people watching the Cubs game, I stayed for a good bit although conversation was difficult given all the noise
Today should be a fairly ordinary day both during work and after work. After work will try to make the Pina colada again, this time with the right ingredients
Going to be quite warm today, upper 80s, will finally cool down around Tuesday
