NJ22 hope you get back some endurance after the ablation

Stars here's hoping he stays away from alcohol while on the taper

Ado glad things are going well with the move

Tweety sounds like a busy day

Dianah hope the cat is OK.  18 is pretty old for a cat

Busier day yesterday at work, for some reason felt irritable.  Perhaps it was being suddenly busy after several slow days.  Or all the political news and ads, I'll be glad when the election is past

Otherwise quiet day yesterday, working on knitting, exercised, watched a little Star Trek.  Talked with J again, his best friend's father died.  He's thinking of going out there, but he's already planning to go over Christmas and not sure he can afford 2 trips this year

Will have to stop eating earlier than usual as I have fasting labs tomorrow at 9am.  Hope I don't get too hungry.  Will skip exercise tonight, as that will likely make any hunger worse

Going to be in the 70s again today, will likely rain and storm a bit.  Will start cooling off again by tomorrow

Hey y'all...

I'm in a snit. Took hubby to the Dr's appt, and then to the pharmacy to get his new lower dose of Librium taper, and 2 of Nannie's prescriptions and one of mine. Hubby couldn't go into the pharmacy because he had to use the bathroom, and the only place he will go is at home. Then the pharmacy said it would be at least 30 minutes. I was going to take hubby home, but he said to go to Subway for Nannie's sandwich. At Subway there were only 6 people in front of me, but one lady had a list of 7 subs to get for her office, so I said 'to heck with this!'

Got home and hubby 'took care of his business'. I got Nannie up and put all of her bedding and clothes she had on into the washer, as she was soaked. Made her a sandwich and gave her the meds.

Hubby then volunteered to go back to the pharmacy and get the meds. But, he said he didn't know how (!!) to drop by the bank and cash a check and load the debit card. He also said he'd let me go out to get the few grocery items (six items plus Vit B12 and Vit D3 for Nannie), plus a book of stamps. I swear, he is such a weenie, UNLESS it benefits him.

The doc is pleased with his progress, said to finish off the 25 mg Librium and then switch to 10 mg. 4X/day until they are gone, and call him at the beginning of the week (Tues) to let him know how hubby is doing. This may be the last of the Librium taper after that. Doc said the quivering gut wasn't abnormal for what he is going through, but it ought to ease off and stop at some point.

Nannie's appt isn't until Dec 6th, but doc said to bring a list of her meds needing authorization and drop it off at his office and he will get them all called in before her appt. I don't need an appt right now. I may go ahead while I'm out and get the flu shot and the new/improved ? Covid booster. I wasn't going to get them on the same day, but I don't care if it makes me feel crappy for a few days. Maybe then I will have a good 'excuse' to rest and let hubby do a little bit of whatever needs doing. He'll puke if he has to help Nannie in the bathroom; whenever I take her in there, even if all she does is pee, he says to "please spray the bathroom".

Back to the laundry. Then hubby will probably be back so I can go do "MY" errands. Whoop-dee-doo, and FUDGE RIPPLE! ( an alternate cuss-word.)

It's cold and wet. I went for a run this morning, and got soaked. I had set a goal to do 3 miles, but wimped out at 2 3/4. I had pulled off my gloves because my hands were sweaty, and fingers got cold. And I couldn't get the gloves back on because they were wet. I figure I was carrying an extra 10 pounds of rain when I got done so that made up for shorting myself 1/4 mile. It's noon and still only 39 degrees. We are going to SIL's house to celebrate MIL's birthday. I think she is 85 today. My husband's brother is going to be there. They haven't spoken in at least 10 years, so I don't know how this is going to go. Brother had gotten into drugs but is apparently clean now.

I spoke to sis yesterday. She had tripped in her yard last month and actually broke her ankle. It wasn't displaced, so she didn't need a cast, but I'm surprised she didn't get a walking boot. I took her a wrap that was useful when I twisted my ankle 2 years ago. She's still hobbling around, but slowly healing. Her heart seems to be doing okay.

Tweety, that sounds like a hectic shift.

Joe, I used to hate fasting labs, but I have gotten in the habit of not eating after 8 pm, and with all the procedures I've had in the last year, its not a big deal anymore. I found out for this Cardiac CT I am getting before the ablation that I will have to abstain from caffeine for 24 hours. That will be tough.

Annie, good to read that the new place is up and running and your boys had a safe journey.

Stars, mm hmm, I hear what you are saying about some people being "helpless". Perhaps when Nannie see the doc, you should mention the incontinence. It just seems like there should be a better way that washing sheets every day.

Hi Dianah. I am sure you are having a great day with family!

I asked at 2 pharmacies, but they were awfully busy and I knew after the shots I would have to hang around for 15 minutes so they'd know I wasn't going to fall down and froth at the mouth. I didn't have the patience to wait. I may get up early and go sneak out and get them. I'll drag Nannie out on another day for her shots. Hubby had his flu shot and griped about it, but the doc said he, of all people, really needed to have it AND another covid booster. If I was in the mood to be mean, I'd have him also get a pneumonia shot, AND a shot for shingles! But all that would make him pitiful all over again. I am OVER living with "invalids" (as Nannie terms herself) because they make me irritable.

When I used to get sick, it was: "I'll let you know if I need anything, otherwise just LEAVE ME ALONE!

I forgot to go turn in my huge winnings ticket. I'll have to be careful not to spend that $8 all in one place. (yuh.)

PS: j22~ Nannie's plumbing is unfixable at her age. A cork wouldn't stay put. She will be wet for the rest of her life. The only way for me not to have to wash her sheets (etc) is to place her in a nursing home. We PRAY it becomes possible SOON, but so far her son isn't doing anything towards that end. I sure don't know where the h*ll to find that kind of $.

Ugh, nursej22, cold hands!!  I would have given you that 1/4 mile, for running without the gloves, and with 10# of rain!  Hope your sister finds the support helpful, it's not fun to hobble around.  Good her heart is behaving.  Hope the meeting between the brothers goes OK.  Maybe time has mellowed out the issues, and they appreciate having family around?

No Stars, hope you can get the needed boosters soon, at your convenience.  You do a lot of laundry!

Hello Ado, Joe, Tweety, and all!  BTW, cat is doing fine, no further issues.  She is just old, and has had a slow-growing tumor on her right jawline/lip.  It doesn't seem to bother her, except when it scabs over.  Then she scratches at it and when it comes off, usually there are a few drops of blood.  At the vet's recommendation, dh has been applying H2O2 to it, to soften the scab and then he will remove it, so it doesn't bother her.  She doesn't seem to mind these "treatments."  Otherwise she eats, pees, poops, and gets around per usual.

Just returned from a nice (if late) lunch with the "kids."  It was nice to visit, and to also have such good Thai food!  We have been eating at this small, family-owned-and-run restaurant, since the kids were in high school.  They are now in their 30's!  Same man and his wife own and run the restaurant.  It was "take-out only" for the past 2 1/2 years, and only recently re-opened for dining in.  Today's meal was a nice treat.

Time for dh and I to kinda get packed for the bluegrass festival.  We will only stay for one night, so really not much needs to be packed.  Just mentally getting things organized is important.

Hope you have a good evening!

I've been doing Nannie's laundry a lot because she wets everything a lot. I can't get her to NOT make her bed when she gets up. A habit, is all it is, but not one she will break. Then, after she's pulled up the sheets and blankets, she lays back down on the top of her bed, thus transferring pee from her wet butt down through all her various covers to her wet chux. Thankfully, most of the time, the fitted sheet doesn't get wet. They are smaller loads, but she uses king-sized top sheets on her double-bed. Hate folding those things. I decided I don't want to be tied up for an entire day with 4-5 loads, so I have broken it up into manageable time-periods.....don't want to be OVER-LOADED! ?

J22, I admire your effort to run in the cold rain. We are cool and wet, too. It was about 70 degrees in late morning but quite windy and by the time our conference ended about 4:00 it was 48 and raining. I hope the ablation puts an end to the a-fib and you regain your stamina.

dianah, enjoy your trip!

Hello to all.

I wasn’t trying to say Nannie’s incontinence was curable, I just wonder about other products to keep her, the bedding, and the furniture drier, like that Pure Wick system. It looks pricey to start, but so are diapers and pads.

I hadn't thought about the Purewick but that might be a good solution for night-time. We use Purewick at the hospital, usually with good results. But yeah $$$.
